When I'm not enjoying life to the fullest in hospital, I'm studying to enjoy my life to the fullest in hospital. Here's a look into my fully-at-home, non-glamourous, god-bless-my-eyes-on-the-screen days where I eat too much, move too little and try to not pick a medical speciality.
Also, I'm sooo curious on thoughts on 1.25x or 1.5xing movies! Is it toxic or is it worth doing?
Also LOL at my pronunciation of “abyss”

I hate the question but it's perhaps the one I'm asked the most: how do you manage to be so 'productive'. And here's my formal answer.
There's a lot of privilege that goes into being able to design your life, I've only been able to do so, properly, for the last few months. But there is a HUGE difference in terms of productivity - I don't feel like being productive, that I am productive, I never really think about it - I just do things that I enjoy, and on the outside, they happen to look like work.

As always - everything is to be taken with a pinch of salt. There are times that I hate things that I usually enjoy, that filming is hard and painting is an absolute pain and the last thing I want to do in the world. This is a generalisation over long periods of time - these are things that I -generally- find easy and fun.

Huge shoutout to Grovemade (https://bit.ly/2P6WhnY) for gifting me the amazing wooden accessories, cannot wait to buy a wooden desk at some point to make the whole thing tie in together!

I love exploring people's perspectives on life and challenging my own. I know that sounds super-cringe, and that life is more about moments you spend doing things with people than sitting on your own thinking, but I feel like some breakthroughs and mindsets I've found when just thinking on my own have completely changed my life.
They've made me see things differently, plan my life differently and therefore have made my interactions with others and meaningful moments feel SO much better. (I said this would be cringe, sorry).

One of my favourite people (for their way of seeing the world) is Naval Ravikant. I could take notes on almost everything he says and I really respect his discipline and intelligence. He's got one of the best brains out there.
PS. These are all my interpretations of what he said and how they apply to my life! So best to go back to the original source for their intended meanings.

A Long Day in the Life of a London Medical Student

I should've probably asked in advance what length of vlog would be ideal, but here's a 3 minute summary of a typical day in my life. (Hoping to get comfortable enough for longer ones soon!)
It's a typical lockdown day of clinical practice + online meetings + some drawing - sushi (sadly).

I've Worn Only Black for 7 Years

In this very self-indulgent video, I've put together the benefits I've found to wearing a single colour (almost) every single day for the last 7 years. It's something that has attracted more questions than I'd ever considered myself, so I tried to refer to the reasons that kept me going. And the ones that are making me consider a change :)

My Second Brain in Notion - Full Setup

I'm following up my first Second Brain video with all the details of how I set mine up - screencasts included. Having this structure for my notes has been one of the best decisions I've ever made and an amazing time investment for me - I do hope anyone else finds this also useful.

This was my first explanatory video, and apart from struggling a bit with describing things, I also did not do the best job with the audio. Apologies. Advice is very much welcomed.

Top 5 Books For People Like Me

'I read so you don't have to' is the concept behind what will (hopefully) become a new series on the channel. Ironically, it does start with book recommendations, but this is because I've been asked for them so much!
I 'd love to start talking more about the specifics in the books I've read - maybe a summary, review of a book, or even a single concept in a book.
I'd never discourage reading, but sometimes, it's better to get the information from somewhere if you don't have the time to get around to reading the whole thing (I often take this approach too).

To make your life easier:
0:00 - Intro
0:32 - A Brief History of Time, Stephen Hawking
2:06 - To the Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf
3:51 - The Genealogy of Morals, Friedrich Nietzsche
5:31 - Being Mortal, Atul Gawande

My "Lazy Principle" of Productivity

The Lazy Principle - That you should plan and schedule tasks with your lazy self in mind, not with the productive self who's doing the scheduling. That way, you're much more likely to stick to your plans and account for procrastination. This makes it much less likely that you completely fail to meet your goals and end up quitting.

I'm asked again and again just how I manage my time, and although these systems really have evolved with time and come naturally to me, I sat down and thought just what I'd changed in how I manage my time and schedule things in my calendar.

I've always been a go-go-go person, even when I refer to 'doing nothing' in this video - it really is me thinking about what I've done, have to do, will do or want to do.
So I'm not sure what I'm saying here makes sense or is helpful to anyone else. I just wanted to start approaching the question. Hopefully I can get better at both understanding my systems, and explaining them.

As in my channel description, my 'productivity' systems really are a lot of fun for me. I've always been this way and absolutely love it. This video is just to compare notes between others already interested in this sort of stuff, I'd love to hear your tips!

Please don't ever feel I'm suggesting a behaviour change! It's all about following our fun and this is mine. 💙

What's in My Bag? Medical Student Edition

We're getting all close and personal with the contents of my everyday carry. Perhaps too close, with the camera lens really distorting my face, but I'm on it, changing the setup soon!
I really want to document how my bag contents change throughout the years, so here's a snapshot of my carry as a 3rd year London medical student - let's see what happens in the future 😆

A Realistic Day in the Life of a London Medical Student (KCL)

Here's an actually realistic day in my life when in hospital. The fact that I ended up spending 11hours there with little to no viable footage made this vlog a real challenge to edit, but at the same time, I thought it would be a true memory of what my days used to look like. The colours in the video tend to be quite inconsistent, that's because I don't add filters to vlogs so that they can be as close to my experience as possible.

I've used SSF* to mean 'similar stock footage' in the video. I cannot of course film inside theatre or around patients and doctors, so I spent (a lot of time) trying to find videos which are as similar as possible to show what the experience would look like!

It was so tempting to show footage of eye surgery, but after the feedback from my injection vlog... I managed to resist.
