𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞?
You know when you’re doing some yoga and suddenly notice a muscle that’s holding?
How come you didn’t notice that before? It’s just time to see that.
There are other tensions - holdings - too. Holding beliefs, holding expectations, holding pain or frustration or grief. You go through life not noticing them, but they are there, influencing how you move through your days.
The belief that ‘life is hard’, not only means that life is probably harder for you than it need be, but you miss easy, simple solutions because you’re looking for hard ones. Grief, sadness over loss; held on to you end up fearing the loss of other things and loss becomes your expectation. Which usually translates into losing things.
And this isn’t armchair psychology either, I’ve seen it play out in my own life and in countless other peoples’ lives too.
So what can you do about it?
Notice it. Notice how you say that ‘it’s hard work’ a lot. Notice how you say that you might do something and then add ‘but …’ because you’re expecting that to end in a problem. Just notice. That is the first stage in being able to let go of that.
If you want a companion to help you notice things, I recommend ‘Living by Design [not by default]’. It’s available on Amazon as a Kindle and a paperback and it’s the perfect gentle companion to working through things and noticing. I had someone remark just yesterday that ‘you’ve helped me already, I have your book and I have you beside me’. Which fills my heart with joy and gratitude because I can help so many more people through this book.
Make today noticeday. Happy Saturday.
