Happy Keys - Playful Piano Lessons with Maddy Playful and creative piano lessons for children, young people and adults in Strathspey from my home. I am also a primary school music facilitator.

Like most teachers, I began teaching my instrument the way I was taught back when I was a primary school student in the 90s. This meant learning to read notes on the page before actually understanding how to feel and listen to the sounds of the piano. True, it got me to where I am today, but now I firmly believe there is a better way to learn and enjoy piano lessons. I gradually discovered more an

d more about new ways of teaching piano as a language and as a creative art form. I realised how much more musical a piano lesson could actually be! Today my lessons involve making music and beautiful sounds from the word go. My job as a piano teacher at Happy Keys is to make students realise that they can be creative and make exciting music by themselves, and with other people. At the same time they can begin developing their skills in reading music to make them an independent pianist at home. I believe this combination of creativity and musical knowledge will allow my students to build their own journey as a developing musician.
