RT Learning Maths Tutor

Hi Everyone,

I’ve been a maths tutor for many years, working with children who often find times tables one of the biggest barriers to confidence in maths.

More recently, I had an idea to explore whether short, age-appropriate songs could help children build fluency through repetition, without it feeling like constant practice or pressure.

I’m currently working with a small number of classroom teachers who are trialling these songs in real classrooms, and the early feedback has been really encouraging, particularly for children who are reluctant or anxious about maths.

I genuinely believe these could become a valuable, low-pressure resource for both classrooms and homes, and I’ll be using this page to share ideas, reflections, and what we’re learning as the trials continue.

Absolutely delighted to share that all 5 of my GCSE students passed their Maths exams this year. All with different challenges to tackling the subject, they worked tremendously hard and achieved grades which were absolutely what they deserved. Huge congratulations to BL, HH, GH, TM and EH.

Thanks must also go to the parents who support tirelessly in the background. Although it clearly makes a big difference, having a tutor is not like being able to wave a magic wand for success; there is a lot of hard work that goes on even outside of our sessions.
