Year 7 stepped back to Roman times this week with a fascinating Classics trip to the Dorset Museum 🏺
They handled genuine Roman artefacts, explored the museum’s impressive Roman gallery and visited the remarkably well-preserved Roman Town House in the heart of ancient Durnovaria (modern-day Dorchester).
All in all, it was a wonderful opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life.

The Year 8 Cornwall Trip has become something of a rite of passage - and this year’s cohort are making the most of every minute! 🌊🏄♂️
Having completed their Common Entrance exams, the group have headed west for a week of adventure, friendship and fresh air. From surfing, bodyboarding and coasteering to Super SUP paddleboarding and cooking their own BBQ dinners, there has been plenty to keep them busy. With Cornwall serving up a little bit of everything weather-wise, there has also been time for card games and tent-side camaraderie.
More than anything, the trip is a wonderful opportunity to unwind after the exams, create lasting memories and enjoy time together before the final weeks of their Perrott Hill journey.
When they return, the Leavers’ Programme continues with trips, talks, new skills and preparations for their final production - a busy and exciting end to their time at Perrott Hill awaits! 💚

Our Nursery children have been enjoying their PE lessons 💚
At Perrott Hill, even our youngest children benefit from specialist teaching and fantastic facilities. Through fun, active lessons, they develop balance, coordination, confidence and teamwork, all while having a wonderful time.
One of the great advantages of being a smaller school is that every child is known as an individual. From Nursery onwards, children are encouraged to have a go, discover new interests and build confidence in a supportive environment where everyone is given the opportunity to shine. Whether it’s sport, music, drama, art or academics, every child is encouraged to take part, try new things and find what they love.
It’s a wonderfully rounded start to school life - and just one of the many things that makes Perrott Hill special.
If you’d like to see for yourself how a Perrott Hill education would benefit your child, we’d love to show you around. Use the links to get in touch with our Admissions Team and and book a private tour.

As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, we’re celebrating one of our favourite traditions at Perrott Hill: The Goblet of Fire 📚✨
Encouraging a lifelong love of reading is hugely important to us, and our Accelerated Reader programme helps children discover new books, challenge themselves and grow in confidence as readers. Every time a pupil completes a quiz on a book they have read, their name goes into the Goblet of Fire.
Each week, three lucky names are drawn and rewarded with a prize, adding a little extra excitement to the joy of reading. The real reward, of course, is seeing children become enthusiastic, independent readers who read because they genuinely love it.
Here’s to many more books, quizzes and lucky winners throughout the Year of Reading!

After enjoying the story of Elmer, our Nursery children have been busy creating their own colourful elephants using recycled milk bottles, tissue paper and plenty of glue.
The children loved getting creative, and the finished display is a brilliant burst of colour - We think Elmer would approve🐘🌈

We were delighted to welcome our local MP, Adam Dance, to Perrott Hill today for a fascinating morning of discussion and questions.
Children in Years 3, 4 and 5 enjoyed hearing about Adam’s role both in Parliament and across the constituency, gaining an insight into the many different aspects of life as an MP. As always, our pupils came armed with plenty of thoughtful questions, covering everything from potholes and inheritance tax for farmers to hereditary peers and how he manages the frustrations that can arise during political debate.
Meanwhile, Year 6 were keen to share their preparations for next week’s Mock Trials and took the opportunity to quiz Adam on environmental issues, including his work tackling fly-tipping and protecting the local environment.
It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to engage with democracy in action, ask challenging questions and learn more about how decisions are made both locally and nationally. Thank you to Adam for taking the time to visit us and for answering so many excellent questions 💚
This weekend, the Friends of Perrott Hill are hosting a summer ball to celebrate a very special milestone - 80 years of Perrott Hill ✨
It will be an evening to reflect on the generations of pupils, families, staff and friends who have shaped the school we know and love today, while also looking ahead to an exciting future.
As we prepare to expand to Year 11, we are entering a new chapter that builds on everything that makes Perrott Hill so special, creating even more opportunities for the children who will follow.
We are looking forward to seeing you there and a wonderful evening of celebration, friendship and memories old and new. Here’s to the next chapter! 🥂🌿

The Perrott Plodders are back in action this evening … whisper it quietly, they’re feeling quietly confident 🏏
Made up of parents, staff, friends and members of the wider Perrott Hill community, the Plodders are one of those wonderful traditions that bring people together long after the final school bell has rung.
Tonight, weather permitting, they take on Hardington and West Coker Cricket Club in what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening of cricket.
If you have a connection to Perrott Hill and fancy dusting off your bat, pulling on your whites or simply getting involved, we’d love to hear from you. New faces are always welcome 💚
