At height, there is no room for shortcuts. The right training, equipment and procedures protect lives.

The Smart Awards SA051C Tetra Leaning Ladder and Flat Roof course provides the practical knowledge and competency required to use the Tetra safety system correctly when accessing telegraph poles and flat roofs.

Delegates will learn:
• Safe working methods for accessing telegraph poles
• Correct use of the Tetra kit and ladder stand-off bar
• Safe access to flat roofs
• Working at height regulations
• Fall factor ratios and fall protection
• Correct ladder setup for poles and buildings
• Use of single-point and multiple restraint systems
• Safe working areas and hazard awareness

This one-day course combines classroom theory with practical training. Delegates must successfully complete a written test and practical assessment to achieve the recognised SA051C Smart Awards accreditation.

The course is suitable for telecoms engineers, installers, contractors and maintenance personnel working at height. Delegates must already hold SA001.

• Location: Crewe, Cheshire
• Price: £220 plus VAT
• Delivery: theory and practical assessment

Your next mission could be building the networks that keep Britain connected.

Military service develops precision, discipline, situational awareness, teamwork and the ability to perform under pressure. These qualities are highly relevant to working in fibre and telecommunications.

The HM Forces Fibre Telecommunications Bootcamp from Fibre Optics Training UK is designed to build on that experience, providing service leavers with practical training and recognised technical qualifications for civilian employment.

Over four weeks, delegates train in environments that reflect real telecoms infrastructure. This includes working with telegraph poles, underground chambers, streetside cabinets and optical distribution frames.

The training package includes:
* Open Awards Level 3 Award in Fibre Optics Installation and Testing
* Open Awards Level 3 Award in Advanced OTDR Testing
* Open Awards Level 3 Award in Optical Fibre and Cable Blowing
* Smart Awards SA001 Overhead Safety
* Smart Awards SA002 Underground Safety
* Fibre network testing and troubleshooting
* CV and employment preparation

The programme is suitable for service leavers from a wide range of military backgrounds. No previous fibre-optic experience is required.

The course is ELCAS approved, allowing eligible Armed Forces personnel to use Enhanced Learning Credits and resettlement funding towards their training. Fibre Optics Training UK’s ELCAS provider number is 3301.

Our four-day Advanced Fibre Optics Fault Finding & Testing course provides hands-on training in professional testing methods and equipment, including:

• Bidirectional OTDR testing
