Have you always wanted to learn piano, but thought you were "too old"? ๐น
Guess what: you're not! ๐คฏ
With 12 years of teaching experience, teaching adults in their 50s, 60s, 70s, even 80s... I have a few thoughts to share on the matter ๐ค
Ok, yes, there may be conditions to work around such as arthritis, historic injuries, tight muscles, etc. We do have to handle these issues carefully...
But the BIGGEST obstacle is actually self-limiting beliefs adults impose on themselves. Here are some examples of things my various adult students have said to me:
"I'm afraid I'm too old to be starting this now." โ
"Those kids you teach probably learn a lot faster than me." โ
"You must need an awful lot of patience to work with the likes of me!" โ
Nope!
Truth is, most adults actually typically get through the basic musical concepts a little quicker than young children do!
The most important thing is that you love the instrument, and that you love the process. None of us is ever done learning, whether it's music or anything else. And piano is such a complex and rewarding - and beautiful - instrument to learn.
If you've always wanted to learn piano, why not consider making it a special goal for 2026? ๐น๐ถ
