Crewe UTC celebrates exciting destinations on results day 🥳

Students and staff at Crewe UTC, part of The Learning Partnership, are celebrating today after receiving their T Level and BTEC Engineering results.

Over 50 young engineers have been working hard to secure their academic qualifications alongside completing their industry placements and these results are the final piece of the jigsaw to help them move onto the next stage of their careers in the sector.

The UTC particularly pleased to have supported a record number of T Level students secure Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships.

Oli S, achieved a distinction in her T Level and has secured a Level 6 Project Management Degree Apprenticeship with Gleeds. She said “ our industry placements were great for experience and for making contacts. The extra curricular opportunities and employer set projects made my CV stand out, resulting in 3 excellent offers, anyone thinking of joining UTC should take advantage of all the extra curricular offers and employer projects.”

Finn M is moving onto a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship with H***e Lea Building Services as a design engineer. He said “I enjoyed the mixture of industry placements and college based learning, and gathered lots of experience being on placement and it helped with interviews and my portfolio. My advice for someone coming to UTC would be to get involved with all the extra curricular clubs and employer projects, applying your skills from the classroom as industry favoured this in my interview.”

Will Chitty, Principal at Crewe UTC said:
“Our Year 13 cohort have worked incredibly hard, both in their lessons and with our industry partners, to ensure they are graduating Industry Ready. Their focus and dedication to their studies has secured some excellent academic outcomes and we are looking forward to working with all our alumni again in the future as they make their way as outstanding engineers and designers in industry.”

✨ Year 10 Bentley Employer Set Project ✨

Over the past two weeks, our Year 10 students have been immersed in an exciting Employer Set Project in partnership with Bentley Motors, taking on the challenge of designing a new steering wheel for a future Bentley vehicle.

Working in teams, students were tasked with researching current automotive technologies, exploring driver needs and considering Bentley's luxury brand identity before developing innovative steering wheel concepts. They had to balance functionality, safety, ergonomics and aesthetics while thinking creatively about how vehicle interiors may evolve in the future.

The project challenged students to apply their engineering, design and problem-solving skills to a real-world industry brief. Throughout the process, they developed professional presentations to communicate their ideas, justify their design decisions and demonstrate how their concepts aligned with Bentley's values of innovation, craftsmanship and luxury.

The standard of work produced was exceptional, with students presenting a range of imaginative and well-considered solutions. Their presentations showcased not only strong technical understanding but also impressive teamwork, communication and professionalism.

The project concluded with students presenting their designs to staff and industry representatives, giving them valuable experience of pitching ideas in a professional setting and receiving feedback from experts.

A huge thank you to Bentley Motors for providing such an engaging and inspiring brief. Experiences like these give students a genuine insight into industry and help develop the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for future careers in engineering, design and technology.

Well done to all Year 10 students involved for their creativity, dedication and hard work throughout the project. 🚗👏

What an incredible achievement for Team Crewe UTC at the inaugural First UTC VEX Robotics Championship at Silverstone UTC, delivered in partnership with the Baker Dearing Educational Trust and VEX Robotics last week.

Our students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, hard work, determination and resilience throughout the competition, battling their way up the qualification rankings to finish an impressive 3rd place before progressing to the Championship Final. In an incredibly close contest, they narrowly missed out on the title by just 2 points.

We couldn't be prouder of the way our team represented Crewe UTC both on and off the field. This is only the beginning - next season brings new challenges, and our team returns with even greater experience, determination, and one clear goal: bringing the championship trophy home.

🎉 Congratulations to the 15 towns shortlisted for UK Town of Culture. We're excited to see what comes next on your journeys and the opportunities this spotlight will bring.
And well done to the other 383 towns that weren't shortlisted (including us, Crewe). We know just how much passion, creativity and hard work goes into a bid, and every place involved should be proud of what they've achieved.
While this marks the end of this particular journey, we like to think of it as more of a track change for Crewe.

🎬 Our new film celebrates the people, organisations, places and communities that make our town such a vibrant place. It's a snapshot of the creativity, culture, heritage and ambition that can be found here every day.
With a summer packed full of events, festivals and activities, we're excited to showcase everything Crewe has to offer and invite people to discover what so many of us already know: Crewe is more than a platform change.
Watch the film, spot some familiar faces, and come and be part of what's next. ❤️

T-Level Industry Placement Spotlight 🌟

Max is currently completing his industry placement at Mountain Trike, where he is gaining valuable hands-on engineering experience.

During his placement, Max has been using CAD software to design accessories for all-terrain wheelchairs, while also learning about manufacturing, assembly processes, and how engineering businesses operate through effective stock control and logistics.

Experiences like this help bring classroom learning to life, giving students the opportunity to apply their skills in a real-world environment and develop a deeper understanding of the engineering sector.

A huge thank you to Tim Morgan and the entire team at Mountain Trike for their continued support of UTC students and for providing such meaningful industry placement opportunities.

A fantastic week of learning beyond the classroom!

Last week, six year 12 Crewe UTC students completed a work experience placement on Kier Construction's Crewe Archives Project, gaining a fantastic insight into the wide range of careers involved in delivering a live construction project. Students took part in sessions covering Health & Safety, Design, Planning, Commercial, and Social Value, as well as spending time on site with project teams and subcontractors.

The experience has helped our students develop an abundance of essential employability skills, including communication, teamwork, professionalism, organisation, and confidence, while also broadening their understanding of career opportunities within the construction and engineering sectors.
A huge thank you to Laura Mills (Social Values Co-ordinator) at Kier Construction and everyone involved for providing such an engaging and inspiring opportunity for our students.
