Retailers continue to sell dangerous, unseeable swimwear to children. If they’re not going to make a difference, then we are.

From today we’re giving away thousands of FREE, safer swimwear to children and giving them money off their next visit to the swimming baths.

We’re doing everything we can, now we’re calling on Keir Starmer and his new government to make immediate legislation changes before the summer holidays 🙏🩳🩱

Following today's tragic news, we have been asked how best adults can discuss water safety with children. We have an educational Winter Safety Activity Booklet and Colouring In Sheet to help start those conversations.

This is heartbreaking 💔, Sharon and I are totally devastated by this news and our hearts go out to everyone involved 😥, this makes our winter water safety lessons 🥶❄️💦 last week even more poignant 🥺😥

Remember however tempting it may seem never ever go onto frozen lakes, rivers or reservoirs, do not throw things for your dogs or allow your dogs onto the frozen waters and do not let your friends or parents stray or play on the ice. If you see someone in trouble on the ice dial 999 immediately, try and keep the casualty calm and try and slide something across the ice for them to hold onto until help arrives, or if they are close to you lie down and try and reach them with something long like a tree branch or scarf whilst making sure you don’t go onto the ice yourself.

Please stay safe this Christmas around the water , remember what we talked about in our lessons and do not venture into the ice , however tempting and fun it may seem and try and warn others of the dangers of venturing onto the ice too. 🥶

At a press conference on Sunday emergency services confirmed four children were fighting for their lives in hospital and search efforts continue amid reports two further children were involved.

Following on from the RLSS National Drowning Prevention week we will be following this up in our lessons for the next 2 weeks.
W/C 27th June it’s Lifesaving and what to do if you see someone in trouble in the water.
W\C 4th July is Personal Survival so what to do if you find yourself in trouble in the water .

The skills we learn in these lessons are invaluable life saving skills and it’s important we re visit every term to keep everyone up to date with the latest advice and keep this subject current and at the forefront of all our minds when we are in and around water .

These lessons are invaluable to us all to help keep us safe over the summer holiday period and we never cease to be amazed at the amount of information the children retain in this subject , so don’t forget your PJ’s these next 2 weeks , oh and you won’t need your goggles either ! With more and more of us having a staycation this year it’s never been so important to stay safe and be safe in and around water , we hope our personal survival lessons have helped educate you all about the dangers of open water and also how to enjoy the water in a safe way. We will be re-visiting these vital survival skills just before we break up for the summer holidays too so that it’s fresh in your minds , stay safe everyone , Kath and Sharon ###
