🍎 FREE SCHOOL MEALS ARE EXPANDING! 🎉

The Government has expanded the criteria for Free School Meals, meaning that more families may now be eligible. From 1st September, parents and carers who are receiving Universal Credit may now be eligible to apply for Free School Meals for their child(ren).

✅ Check your eligibility and apply:

Registering for Free School Meals provides valuable support for your child and the school, including access to additional funding that helps us provide extra opportunities, resources and support for our pupils.

If you have any questions or require any support, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

If your application is successful, please notify the school by forwarding your confirmation email to [email protected] so that we can update our records.

We hope everyone has had a fantastic summer break filled with lots of fun, laughter and happy memories! ☀️

We are so excited to welcome all of our children back to school on Wednesday and begin another wonderful year together. We are also delighted to extend a very special welcome to all of our new Nursery and Reception children and their families as they join the Monks family. We can’t wait to get to know you and see you settle into school life!

📅 A little reminder: Tuesday 1st September (tomorrow) is an INSET Day so school will be closed to children.

🎉 Our first day of term is Wednesday 2nd September

Our amazing Year 6 pupils gave us one final performance to remember. They took to the stage to sing the final song from their fantastic production of Matilda then we all enjoyed a beautiful memory slideshow, looking back on their journey from their very first days in Reception right through to Year 6.

To end this special moment, our Year 6 pupils made their way out of the hall to a huge round of applause and cheers from the entire school!

Today we said goodbye to our amazing Year 6 children as they finished their primary school journey. 💙

We couldn't be prouder of every single one of them. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, especially in the lead up to their SATs, showing determination, resilience and a fantastic attitude. We hope they received the results they were hoping for, but whatever the outcome, they should all be incredibly proud of what they have achieved.

Watching them grow in confidence, develop new skills and create lasting friendships has been a privilege. They have been wonderful role models and have made so many special memories during their time with us.

As they move on to the next exciting chapter, we wish them every success and happiness. Keep believing in yourselves, work hard, and never stop aiming high.

At the end of the school day today, our wonderful Year 6 pupils will be leaving through their classroom doors for the very last time! ✨

We warmly invite all parents, carers, and fellow pupils to join us for a massive guard of honour to celebrate their time with us and wish them luck on their journey to high school.

We are delighted to announce that we, Monks Coppenhall Academy, have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include:
County Champions for Year 5 and 6 at the Indoor Athletics competition
Overall winners for Town Sports for Track and Field
Qualifying for the Country Finals in Hockey for Year 5 and 6
Taking part in over 40 inclusive competitions across the academy throughout the year
Taking part in workshops ran by Crewe Alex with a focus on increasing children's confidence through football
All children across the Academy took part in dedicated days to celebrate Women's football and the World Cup
Enrichment days were held for all children to experience a range of sporting activities
A wide range of clubs are offered throughout the year to all children

With a total of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we are pleased that the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

🎭 Year 6 Performance Reminder! 🎭

The wait is almost over! Our fantastic Year 6 children can't wait to take to the stage and perform Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical today and tomorrow! 🌟

Year 6 children will go home at the end of the school day and need to return to school for 4:20pm to get ready for the evening performance.

We still have a limited number of spare tickets available for each performance. If you would like any additional tickets, please pop into the Academy Office and we'll be happy to help.

We know our Year 6 stars have worked incredibly hard and can't wait to share their amazing performance with you. We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating their hard work and talent! 💙✨

🎉 Year 6 Leavers' Shirt Reminder! 🎉

As part of our Year 6 celebrations on Friday, children are invited to bring in a plain white T-shirt or white shirt for everyone to sign and leave special messages.

👕 Please make sure the shirt is brought in separately – children should still come to school wearing their Monks Pe Kit/school uniform as usual.

🖊️ Don't forget to bring a few pens (fabric pens are ideal if you have them, but permanent markers will also work) so everyone can sign each other's shirts and create a wonderful keepsake of their time at primary school.

We can't wait to see everyone celebrating together and making lasting memories on their final day with us! 💙

Last week our Year 6 drumming group performed in the Cheshire Music Schools Final at Chester Cathedral. We are pleased to announce that we won! We are incredibly proud of all the children for their achievement. A special thanks must go to Mr Proctor for teaching the children, the parents for bringing the children and all the staff for organising. 🥁
