Wc-27/3 & Wc-3/4
We have had a busy run-up to Easter.
This week we concentrated on the book "little rabbit foo foo" by Michael Rosen bringing us nicely into Easter. We did an Easter hunt where we hunted Easter shapes around the building. We made Easter stamper pictures, we glued small Easter egg shapes onto large Easter eggs to make amazing pictures. We iced some Easter biscuits using yellow icing and added eyes and a beak to create Easter chicks. We use tongs to sort the lambs in the Easter funky fingers. We made hot cross buns out of Play-Doh and even tried tasting some hot cross buns. We use polystyrene eggs to roll around in paint to make the eggs colourful just like real Easter eggs. We made some lovely Easter cards for our families. We sang five hot cross buns in a baker shop and read the Easter story of the golden egg.

This week we focus on the world of Nick Sharrat. we looked at the book "I went to the Zoopermarket" Which features lots of amazing animals all made out of food. We made our own fantastic animal college puppets to use alongside the story using tissue paper and glue. We coloured in some fantastic pictures of monkeys and made our own crazy creatures and other things from Play-Doh that we had made ourselves. We sang the song "5 Cheeky monkeys" and made our own monkey puppets to sing with.

This week we looked at the Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. It tells the story of a mouse exploring the woods and the creatures he meets on the way. We had such a busy week. We made a mouse collage using coloured tissue, we played a colour match game using a dice, we played a pairs matching game, we had fun playing with the animals in the with small world woodland habitat. We made some scary gruffalo masks and even made gruffalo's out of Play-Doh with purple pipe cleaners for prickles. We even Found time to play outside and do some chalking on the floor and check on our beautiful daffodils that we planted last year.

We read the story of Brown Bear Brown Bear. What do you see? by Eric Carle.
The children enjoyed the story and like guessing the animal on the next page that the bear may find. We played a colour match game where we had correctly match all the animals to the to the right colours. We also made some amazing mother's Day cards using our fingerprints to create the pattern on them. We had added a heart and wrote our names inside.

Spring team 2
Our theme for this term was wonderful world of books. We will be looking at some amazing children's authors such as Rod Campbell, Eric Carle, Julia Donaldson, and favourite books chosen by our children such as Dear Zoo, Brown, Bear, Gruffalo and many more.

Wc-28/2
The first author but we looked at was Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell.
This book tells the story of a zoo trying to send us a perfect pet. The children love this story and enjoyed trying to guess what animal was in each enclosure. They learnt that each animal had its own characteristics Which related to the four core emotions- Happiness, sadness, anger and fear.
The the children enjoyed exploring different habitats that the animals lived in matching the animals to the right habitats. They use tissue paper and glue to independently make some angry lion masks. We used action cards to create movements and sounds of all the animals in the story and coloured in pictures using different colours for each emotion displayed by the animal.
The children loved assigning a colour to each emotion. Yellow for happy, blue for sad, red for angry, and green for fear/scared and happily now tell us how they are feeling by pointing to a coloured face on the board.
