We are registered for 35 children aged 0-5 from within 4 base rooms, from 7.00am until 7.00pm Monday-Friday. We have our own kitchen on site, preparing delicious meals each day as well as our own outdoor ar

ea with daily access. Funded Places are available for 2, 3 & 4 year olds meeting the government criteria, and we offer a 10% discount to all NHS employees. TAKE ME HOME BAGS

Our Take Me Home Bags are helping us strengthen the connection between nursery and home, giving children and their families the opportunity to continue learning and talking about important topics together.

This week, our children have been exploring oral health and healthy teeth, with our Take Me Home Bags containing useful information and resources for families to look through together. These shared experiences encourage parents and carers to become actively involved in their child's learning, while helping children to understand that learning doesn't just happen at nursery.

Our oral health activities support children to develop an understanding of the importance of looking after their teeth, including regular brushing, making healthy choices and learning about good dental hygiene. Sharing this information with families helps us to promote consistent messages between nursery and home.

We particularly loved seeing the children sharing this experience with their dad, creating opportunities for meaningful conversations, building confidence and making learning part of everyday family life.

A TRIP TO THE PARK

Our children have enjoyed a lovely trip to the local park, making the most of the outdoor space and all the opportunities it provides for learning through play.

Being outdoors gives children the chance to develop their gross motor skills as they run, climb, balance, jump and explore different equipment. These experiences help to build strength, coordination, confidence and physical independence.

The park also provided plenty of opportunities for social development. The children practised sharing equipment, taking turns, following simple rules and playing alongside their friends. There were lots of conversations along the way, supporting their communication and language skills as they talked about what they could see and what they wanted to explore next. Outdoor experiences also encourage children to develop confidence, resilience and problem-solving skills. Whether working out how to climb, deciding which equipment to use or navigating the space around them, children are constantly making choices and learning through their experiences.

Most importantly, it was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, be active and have fun together outside of the nursery environment.

WATER PLAY

Our Practitioner, Jemma, recently created a beautiful sensory water play experience using flowers, slices of fruit and fruit tea bags to encourage our youngest children to explore with their senses.

This carefully planned activity provided opportunities for babies to investigate different colours, textures and natural scents while developing their curiosity through open-ended play. As they splashed, reached, poured and explored the floating materials, they were strengthening their fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination and early understanding of cause and effect.

Sensory experiences like these are fundamental to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), supporting communication and language as practitioners introduced new vocabulary and described what the children could see, smell and feel. The calming nature of the activity also encouraged sustained engagement, confidence and independent exploration in a safe and nurturing environment.

FROM GARDEN TO TABLE

Our children have been so proud to harvest the food they have been growing in our nursery garden.

They enjoyed collecting their home-grown vegetables and seeing the results of the time, care and patience they have put into looking after them. This hands-on experience provided wonderful opportunities to learn about where food comes from, how plants grow and the importance of caring for living things.

Growing and harvesting our own food also supports the EYFS Understanding the World area of learning, while encouraging healthy eating, independence, responsibility and a connection with the natural world.

OUR NEW LENDING LIBRARY

We are excited to introduce our new Lending Library, creating another opportunity for children and families to enjoy books and develop a love of reading together.

Parents can choose a book from our library, sign it out and take it home to share with their child before returning it and choosing another. We hope this will encourage families to make reading a regular and enjoyable part of their home routines.

Sharing books together supports children’s Communication and Language development by building vocabulary, listening and attention skills, encouraging conversations and helping children to develop their understanding of stories and the world around them. Reading together also provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to spend quality time together, developing a positive relationship with books from an early age.

GRATITUDE AND POSITIVE THINKING

Our children have been exploring the idea of gratitude and taking time to think about the people, experiences and things that are important to them.

Using whiteboards, the children shared what they are grateful for and proudly displayed their ideas. This simple activity created meaningful opportunities for children to express their thoughts, feelings and experiences while developing their communication and language skills.

Talking about gratitude also supports children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development, helping them to recognise positive experiences, develop an awareness of their emotions and appreciate the people and things around them.

The children were encouraged to listen to one another, share their ideas and understand that everyone may be grateful for different things. These conversations help to build confidence, self-expression and respectful relationships with others.

STAFF FAVOURITE BOOKS

As part of our focus on developing a love of reading, our team have been sharing some of their favourite children’s books with us.

We believe that children benefit from seeing the adults around them enjoying books, stories and rhymes. Sharing favourite stories creates opportunities for children to discover new characters, explore different ideas and develop a genuine enjoyment of reading.

Reading regularly supports children’s Communication and Language development by building vocabulary, strengthening listening and attention skills, encouraging conversation and helping children to develop an understanding of stories and language. Our staff have chosen books that they particularly enjoy sharing with children, giving families and children the opportunity to discover some new favourites too!

LEARNING THROUGH NUMBERS AND COLOUR

Our children enjoyed a fun and engaging mathematical activity using UNO cards to develop their early number and colour recognition skills.

They selected a card, identified the colour and numeral, and then used paint to carefully make the corresponding number of dabs. This provided valuable opportunities to practise counting, recognise numerals and develop an understanding of quantity and one-to-one correspondence.

The activity also supported fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, concentration and listening skills, as the children followed instructions and carefully controlled their movements to create their marks.

Through practical and enjoyable experiences like this, children are able to develop their mathematical understanding in a meaningful way. This activity links closely to the EYFS Mathematics area of learning, particularly developing children’s confidence with numbers, counting and quantities.

JELLY FUN

Our toddlers recently enjoyed a sensory exploration activity using jelly with hidden insects. This engaging experience encouraged children to use their senses as they searched, scooped and investigated the insects concealed within the jelly.

Sensory play provides valuable opportunities for children to develop their curiosity, problem-solving skills and early scientific thinking. As the children explored the different textures, colours and shapes, they used descriptive language to talk about what they could see and feel, supporting their communication and language development.

Activities such as this also help to strengthen fine motor skills through squeezing, grasping and picking up the insects, while promoting confidence, concentration and independent exploration. Introducing insects in a fun, hands-on way encourages children to learn about the natural world, supporting the EYFS curriculum by fostering curiosity and a love of discovery through play.
