Reluctantly, I've decided to press pause on all things Primary Maths for Parents for now.

I've loved talking to you + helping so many of you help your children with their maths learning.

I really do feel that there is still a need for what I want to offer through Primary Maths for Parents, but with life as it is (2 children at home, homeschooling, working part-time etc), I just can't give it the attention that I want to.

So for now, thank you. And if you're homeschooling + juggling it all - I stand with you in solidarity 💕

Maths homework time can turn into a real battleground.

Especially with the very fresh memories of lockdown homeschooling + the added challenge of having little contact with our child's class teacher.

Here are my 4 top tips, that I've used over the years as a teacher, tutor + parent, for making maths homework time run more smoothly.

1. COMPLETE MATHS HOMEWORK AT THE SAME TIME EACH WEEK
Children are creatures of habit + being able to predict when it's time to do maths homework will reduce any anxiety they may have about completing it. (Thursdays after dinner work well in my house at the moment 😊)

2. MAKE A RESOURCE BOX TO USE EACH TIME
e.g. pencil, rubber, ruler, hundred square, pencil sharpener etc. If it's all in one handy spot, it saves on your child going missing for 10 minutes on a ruler hunt.

3. AGREE ON A FINISH TIME
Opt for a certain number of minutes instead of when you've finished all the questions. If your child isn't able to complete the homework in full, let their teacher know. They will be grateful for the feedback.

4. DECIDE ON A REWARD FOR COMPLETING THE HOMEWORK
We all like a reward for finishing something. Don't forget to reward yourself with something too 😉
