Cottesmore is an award winning academic boarding prep school for boys and girls in West Sussex.
Cottesmore School is in its 127th year, it was founded in 1894 in Hove and moved to its current location in Pease Pottage after the war. Cottesmore won Tes’ ‘Boarding School of the Year’ in 2019 and more recently was awarded ‘Prep School of the Year 2020’ by Tatler Schools Awards.

BREAKING NEWS - COTTESMORE SWIMMER NATIONAL CHAMP
A golden moment for Cottesmorian Elliott Daruty who was crowned National Champion in the Open/Male 13–14 years 100m freestyle at the 2026 Swim England National Summer Meet.
Elliott produced a superb swim of 56.18 seconds to take first place and secure the gold medal on one of the biggest stages in English swimming.
A brilliant achievement built on dedication, courage and countless hours of training.

Speaking of strong female role models (see last post) - after 57 years, and with no sign of retiring, Cottesmore stalwart Cathryn Rogerson has been nominated by the Boarding Schools Association for the Steven Winkley Award.
This award commends the achievements of an individual who has made a significant contribution to the cause of boarding.
This is the longest running BSA Award and is dedicated to the memory of Stephen Winkley who was BSA Chair (2003), and Headmaster of Uppingham (1991-2006) and Rossall (2008-2013).
Wish us luck - the awards ceremony is tomorrow.

SHORTLISTED!
There is much excitement in the Cottesmore camp.
We are delighted to share that Cottesmore has been shortlisted for Independent Prep School of the Year at the Tes Schools Awards 2026.
Having been shortlisted for the same award in 2023, we know what a magnificent evening this is. Later this term, we will head to London to celebrate not only this recognition, but also the remarkable work taking place across the world of education.
A huge thank you in advance to the Tes team and to everyone involved in making the occasion such a memorable one.
Most of all, thank you to the pupils, parents, staff and wider Cottesmore community who make the school what it is.
