LIVE FROM COP28 TO COTT28

Old Cottesmorian Robert Gardner beamed in from Dubai this morning to give us a live update regarding the goings on at COP28 UAE.

Every year Cottesmore School holds a parallel fortnight of focus on sustainability that we call COTT28.

Rob has famously been involved in the world of finance for very many years, co-founding Redington, and has more recently launched a company to address the balancing of economic growth and sustainability called Rebalance Earth.

He is passionate about improving financial education for young people and has been down to Cottesmore previously to give talks on ‘compound interest’ and the importance of saving and investment.

The girls and boys were suitably inspired by his talk today on global sustainability.

Thank you for super-charging our Wednesday morning, Rob!

Congratulations to the fabulous Cottesmore team!

Cottesmore School has this week been named as one of the UK’s best prep schools.

‘The Schools Index by Carfax Education’ has chosen Cottesmore as one of the top ten UK prep schools: https://lnkd.in/dus3yDEm

Thank you to the Carfax team for giving us this honour - the Cottesmore team is proud to be included.

-

This comes after the equally wonderful news that Cottesmore was nominated for ‘Prep School of the Year 2023’ at the Tatler Schools Awards this term, nominated for ‘Prep School of the Year 2023’ at the Tes Times Educational Supplement Schools Awards last term and shortlisted for ‘Boarding School of the Year 2023’ at the Independent School of the Year Awards this term.

We are so proud of the team whose hard work is acknowledged through these award nominations.

Well done to everyone involved.

Onwards and upwards!

An evening celebrating the top prep and public schools in the UK

Tori Cadogan and her dynamic team at Tatler hosted a wonderful evening in honour of some of the best schools in the UK.

Cottesmore School is lucky and grateful to be thought of as an intrinsic part of that society of schools and we do not underestimate that honour.

Within an already rarefied group chosen to be included in Tatler’s Schools Guide 2024, Cottesmore was then nominated this year as one of four of ‘the best prep schools in the land’, in Tatler’s words, at the awards in the Prep School of the Year category.

Congratulations to St Hugh's, Oxfordshire who won ‘Prep School of the Year’. What an overture, David Griffiths!

Many thanks go to Tori and her team for their generosity - as ever, it was an evening full of fun, appreciation and above all hope for the future of education.

You're waiting for one Old Cottesmorian at the Burning Bush and two come at once • The Headmaster attended his 30-year reunion at Eton last night. He was also sent up as a postman, with some provisions for one OC - and another sidled by. He hopes to see more of you next time!

HUGE ACHIEVEMENT ALERT! Cottesmore nominated for “Independent Prep School of the Year” at the ‘Oscars of the Education World’ • We hope that you will join us in applauding the whole Cottesmore community - girls, boys, the teaching team, parents and support team - for its wonderful nomination at the national Times Educational Supplement Awards 2023.

Cottesmore is the only boarding prep school chosen for a nomination for “Independent Prep School of the Year 2023” - one of the four biggest awards of the ceremony.

The event was held on Park Lane in London at The Grosvenor and included both state schools and independent schools - there was a huge buzz and a tangible frisson of national-level excitement on the night.

A school in central Birmingham won the award in the end but we are still hugely honoured to have been chosen as nominees. Thank you to the Tes Institute team for bestowing upon Cottesmore this great honour.
