๐ŸŽถ Under the sea, under the sea! ๐ŸŒŠ

Following an interest of the ocean and going to the beach in the group, we used paper plates and paint to create our own shells!

Move your body, move, move your body! ๐ŸŽถ

This week, the children have been exploring why we need an active lifestyle, the different ways we take care of our bodies and the importance of a balanced diet with all the food groups.

We learned and noticed some cool things!
- When we move our bodies through dancing, climbing, running and other movements, our bodies produce sweat to keep us cool
- After snack and lunchtime, we felt more energised and ready for play
- Sun cream protects our skin in the sunshine
- Drinking lots of water and wearing a hat outside keeps us cool in the sun

To the moon and back! ๐ŸŒ™

The children have been exploring space after watching the safe landing of the Artemis II. We watched clips of the the successful mission around the moon and back on the smart board before exploring more about space through books and small world play.

Noodles and chopsticks ๐Ÿฅข

Recently, the children have shown an interest in writing their own names, so we have been exploring fine motor activities to strengthen small muscles to support early mark making skills.

Activities such as tweezers and pom poms, chopsticks and noodles, and sticks in wet mud support children to develop the fine motor skills needed to become confident writers as they progress through their education journey.

"Fine motor skills involve small muscles working with the brain and nervous system to control movements in areas such as the hands, fingers, lips, tongue and eyes. Developing fine motor skills helps children do things like eating, writing, manipulating objects and getting dressed." - Department for Education
