This time of the year can be a family orientated, happy, fun time for many, but it can also be challenging for many.
Here are some suggestions to be mindful of during this time ⬇️
👉 Increased Stress - Financial pressure, gift-giving expectations and social obligations.
☑️Be mindful of your realistic budget to avoid any unnecessary debt
☑️Set boundaries and intentions.
👉 Social Comparison- Social Media can contribute to people comparing themselves to what others have given and received.
Remember, often it is just the trailer of the story shared, not the full movie!
👉 Family Dynamics - ooo this can be a wonderful time to gather together as a family and be an amazing bonding experience. Sometimes however though, it can also be a little tricky.
☑️Potential family conflicts may arise and it’s ensuring you set healthy boundaries to protect your mind health, and equally to be mindful of your behaviour towards others.
☑️Treat as you wish to be treated is my motto.
👉Loneliness - this is one of the highest reasons for suicidal tendencies and deaths!
Not everyone has close family. Maybe no family at all. No network of friends they can celebrate, talk, or chill with.
☑️Reach out to friends. Contact someone you’ve not spoken to for a while.
☑️Check in on a neighbour
☑️Join community events
☑️Volunteer to do food and parcel drops
👉Grieving - For anyone who has experienced a loss, this can be a time of the year that triggers the emotions of absence.
☑️Allow yourself the emotions that arise
☑️Talk to family, friends or professionals
👉Self Care - Take time for you!
☑️Do something you enjoy
☑️Plan and prioritise your time to do activities that bring you comfort and relaxation
☑️Practice mindfulness
👉Healthy Habits - Still be mindful of your health
☑️Maintain regular sleep patterns
☑️80/20 food rule - 80% of your food consumed is enjoyable, nutritiously dense and 20% the other great foods.
☑️Move that body and be engaged in physical activity - walk outside in nature, dancing around your room, yoga, just move that miracle body of yours
Finally, remember it’s ok to not always feel ok, and to know you do not need to attach shame to this 🙏
Focus on the positive things in your life and find gratitude for your breath!
As always, the TTP Teams inboxes and ears are open to anyone who would like to connect. Even if you are wanting to voice how you are feeling, so as not to keep the emotions and thoughts within. Please reach out and know we will listen with empathy and without judgement ⭐️
