This month's Pupil of the month award goes to Carrie (aged 13). Carrie is an able mathematician, but often feels overwhelmed by word problems.

Sessions have been spent picking apart word problem, breaking them down in to steps and using strategies to tackle them in a systematic manner. Carrie has been so resilient and is now becoming more confident in using an applying these independently.

Pupil of the month!

This month's pupil of the month goes to an ex pupil whom I am lucky enough to now have as a tutee. Yazzi (aged 10), has been working really well in her sessions and has retained what we have learnt from one week to the next. We have been focussing on different types of reading comprehension questions and developing strategies that we can reuse time and time again to identify the answers both retrieved and inferred from the text.

Fact Friday

As a parent, sometimes we can feel that we don't get much feedback from the teacher until events such as parents evening however, assessment is part of everyday and every lesson for teachers. If you have concerns, don't be afraid to talk to your child's class teacher as they will always have your child's best interests at heart.

After all tutoring sessions, parents receive feedback about what has been covered, the progress made in the session and an indication of next steps.

Pupil of the month!

This month's pupil of the month goes to a long standing tutee who continues to grow in confidence and ability. Kitty (aged 12), works hard in every session, her ability to work systematically to solve problems has really developed and become embedded in her approach. Every session we learn but most importantly we have fun and giggle!
