What a fantastic start to term at
We've had an amazing time exploring the setting, our local area and out at the library and
I'm so proud of all our new minis for how well they've settled and all current children who have welcomed them and adapted so brilliantly 🤩

Today was a walk and splash in the woods kind of day. We picked blackberries and then did some painting with them 🍇 💕

That was a tough week 🥵 but all my mindees were absolute superstars and we had a great week keeping as cool as we could here with lots of water play, and free play in the shade.

Happy childminding week to all my incredible childminding colleagues and friends. ☺️💐

“Just” a childminder…

I wear many hats,
within my busy day,
As I help each child,
Learn through their play.

I follow their lead,
As we go off exploring,
One thing is for certain,
Our day’s never boring.

I am often a gardener,
A chef and a baker,
An artist at work,
A creative play maker.

I am a planner, a preparer,
For spontaneous days,
I am a nurse for,
those accident prone days.

I provide opportunities,
For a role play adventures,
I pack forest school bags,
For when we go off and venture.

I am a nature lover,
And encourage outdoor fun,
I am a story teller,
But we can’t just read one.

I change many nappies,
Do a hundred toilet trips,
But I am also a pirate,
That sails on their ships.

I am a feelings trainer,
To support big emotions,
And I’m also a scientist,
Who helps to make potions.

I am a mathematician,
A confidant and a friend,
I scaffold their learning,
Then with that I extend.

I prepare for the future,
And with teaching I’m prudent,
But they also teach me,
So furthermore I’m their student.

I love and I care for them,
Right from the start,
For each special child,
No, they won’t leave my heart.

So really I do many jobs,
And one thing is for sure,
I’m not “just a childminder”,
I am so much more…

🌿🦖🦕Dinosaurs and other adventures 🦕🦖🌿
Come and look at the fun we've had this week!
Each week we have a focus book and a loose theme to follow. This is flexible and not set in stone so I can follow children's interests as they develop.

🦖This week we have been looking at dinosaurs and reading the book '10 little dinosaurs' 🦖

✨ We do also read plenty of other books around this theme and various others, but having one that we repeat over and over is so important and where the magic really happens ✨
📖 Each reread builds familiarity, helping children feel confident and secure.📖
They begin to:
🌿 Anticipate what comes next
🌿 Join in with repeated phrases
🌿 Deepen their understanding of the story

This repetition strengthens language development, memory and comprehension, all while nurturing a genuine love of books. 🧠
It's not 'just the same story,' it's New learning every time.

Sometimes the best days are the simplest ones.
We'd had a couple of busy days rushing around, so we took a day to slow down and just appreciate the area we live. No agenda, nowhere to be, just enjoying the time together.
We had such a wonderful morning outside. A quick stop at the post office to help me post a parcel ✉️, followed by a slow walk in the local woods. 🌳
We used all our senses to talk about what we could hear, smell, see and feel.
We heard lots of birds tweeting 🐦
We smelt some lovely flowers and touched lots of leaves and trees.🌿
We saw lots of different bugs and a lady bird 🐞 and beautiful flowers 🌸
We then stopped at the park on our way back , before playing in the garden until lunch time.

Days like today I have to pinch myself that this is my job.
The most wonderful group of little ones to look after, on an adventure to the farm, looking at all the cute animals in the glorious sunshine with our friends. I'm so very lucky.
Such a wonderful learning opportunity for the children. We had an absolute blast and they were all asleep by the time we left the car park. Sign of a good day 🤣
