Hi everyone,
I hope you are doing well and good luck with this new year.
I am the former President of the Latin American Society, but I am no longer in Cranfield.
I see that several new students have liked this FB page. If any of you would like to take the initiative and try to organize activities this year, please reach out to me and I can explain how to proceed.
Basically, one or several people need to take the initiative and look for other Latin American students (or non-LATAM) to form a committee. Then the committee can be in charge of organizing activities and looking for other members.
In the past, we organized several parties at the CSA opened to all students (Halloween, Día de los Mu***os, Carnaval, Valentine's Day) and collected funds from the alcohol that we sold at the CSA. Then we used that money to organize a Christmas dinner, several BBQs, and pizza nights along the year, which were free for Society members.
The Society should be registered as an official CSA society once enough students are interested in joining. We had a fee of 5 pounds per student to officially join the Society, but this is optional. These 5 pounds were used to pay for the decorations for the first CSA party (Halloween/Día de los Mu***os in our case), and then, with the money we collected from the alcohol, we were able to buy decorations for the following parties and saved part of it for the Christmas dinner, BBQs, and such.
I hope some of you would be interested in promoting LATAM activities this year. Last time, we had a lot of fun organizing events and we built a nice and welcoming community.
Bye all.
