Saturday Dance & Musical Theatre Training for Children Aged 5-18yrs in Cranbrook, Kent 🎭

In July 2000, 12 students came together to attend a musical theatre summer course. Little did we know then that this was going to lay the seeds of a new exciting company! The Creative Dance Company is now celebrating its 14th year and every week over 100 children attend Dance and Musical Theatre classes in The John Leakey Hall, Dulwich Prep School, Cranbrook. The Company is directed by Valerie McDonald FRSA who is supported by an enthusiastic team of talented and committed teachers which include many West End and international performers, choreographers. Over the years many of the students have accomplished considerable achievements, including full scholarships to some of London's most prestigious Performing Arts Colleges. Students have also made it onto the West End stage, in shows such as Oliver, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Carmen, Cats, Mathew Bourne's Swan Lake & Nutcracker. As well as appearances on ITV's 'Come Dine with Me' and the 'Xtra Factor' students of all ages have succeeded in winning awards at the Cranbrook, Croyden and Hastings Festivals, with the Junior and Senior choirs being awarded Youth Choir of the Year in 2012 and 2013. We invest in our young students and their future, offering them performance opportunities and training that will both challenge them and allow them to develop individually as performers.

Time to meet the second of our two new TA’s!

BELLA
(Juniors and Mid 2s Company Class Teaching Assistant)

Hi I’m Bella and I’ve been at Creative Dance for almost 5 years now and I’m a year 12 at Cranbrook School, studying English, Psychology and Politics and hoping to become a criminal defense barrister in the future. Creative has helped me grow so much as a person, especially in my confidence levels which I strive to help younger students with. Performing with Creative has become such a core part of who I am and I’m excited to take it further and share this with the younger kids!

We’ve got two brilliant new TA’s joining us this year, and it’s time to meet them!

MARTHA
(Juniors and Mid 2s Acting Teaching Assistant)

Hi I’m Martha and I have been at Creative Dance since I was 4 where my passion for the arts began. I’m in Year 12 studying the A Levels Theatre studies, Media studies and English Literature. In the future I am looking to persue a career in the world of performing arts. I am unbelievably grateful to be a part of the creative team this year and am looking forward to get to know all the children on a deeper level and help support their performing journeys. Creative Dance has always been a safe, nurturing and exciting place for me and I hope to help create this atmosphere for others. There’s no other way I would want to spend my Saturdays!
