Welcome back, Benenden! đź’™

Our students returned yesterday and wasted no time getting involved in all that school life has to offer. The start of term has already been packed with team-building games, a vibrant Co-Curricular Fair, and plenty of opportunities to meet new faces and strengthen friendships.

We're looking forward to sharing more photos from these fantastic first few days soon, and there's so much more to come this term.

"Going to Slovakia feels like an achievement for all of us, not just for me."

Congratulations to year 10 student Ula, who has been selected to represent Lithuania in the CEI1 100km International Endurance Competition in Slovakia.

After years of training and competing in endurance riding, including becoming this year's Lithuanian Youth Champion in the 80km endurance competition, she is now preparing for her biggest challenge yet.

Endurance riding is a true test of fitness, resilience and teamwork. Competitors cover vast distances while carefully managing their horse's wellbeing, with veterinary checks throughout the race to ensure horse welfare remains the highest priority.

We are delighted to see Ula's hard work and dedication recognised at an international level and look forward to following her journey.

Join us in wishing her the best of luck! 🏇✨

Two clean sweeps of top grades, one week apart, in one Benenden School family.

Nicole's GCSE results - a clean sweep of grade 9s - landed exactly seven days after her big sister Melanie's clean sweep of A*s at A Level.

"I'm really proud of Nicole," said Melanie. "We were all really shocked, because after every paper she came out saying it was so bad! I was the same at GCSE and A Level - we tend to worry a lot, but have realised that worrying doesn't do much for the results."

Melanie has now left Benenden's Sixth Form and is heading to a training camp in Cambridge, ahead of representing the UK at the International Astrophysics Olympiad in Vietnam.

The pair have grown up side by side at Benenden - Music Scholars, keen young scientists, and, not so long ago, just two small girls with matching grins. Some things don't change.

Huge congratulations to both.

Nicole starts Sixth Form at Benenden this September - if this has you thinking about your own daughter's next step, we're holding a Sixth Form Open Event on Thursday 10 September.

Six girls, six ways of measuring success.

This year's Year 11s achieved record GCSE results - 42% of all grades at the top Level 9, and 84% at Level 9 to 7. But ask the girls behind those numbers what they're proudest of, and you'll hear about diplomatic ambitions, discipline in the library, an escape into an imaginary world, and a night on stage at the London Coliseum, before a grade gets mentioned.

Swipe through to hear it in their own words.

Benenden’s 2026 GCSE cohort is celebrating the School’s strongest results since numerical grading was introduced nationally in 2017, excluding the Covid years when examinations were not sat.

Of all grades awarded, 43% were at Level 9, 67% at Levels 9–8 and 84% at Levels 9–7.

Within those results are some notable individual achievements. Nineteen pupils, representing 22% of the year group, achieved nothing lower than a Level 8.

The figures provide clear evidence of the cohort’s academic achievement, but they cannot capture the full experience of these pupils or everything they have contributed to life at Benenden. Over the coming days, we will share some of their individual stories, interests and next steps.

Today, we simply celebrate the whole year group and congratulate every pupil on reaching this important moment.

We want to wish all our Upper Fifths the very best of luck for tomorrow’s GCSE results day.

Before that important milestone arrives, we are celebrating the year they have shared: the friendships, performances, fixtures, activities, trips and everyday moments that have made it memorable.

Together, these experiences tell a much bigger story about their time at Benenden. They reflect the opportunities, relationships and interests that form part of a Complete Education.

Tomorrow is one more milestone in a memorable year.

Good luck, Upper Fifths

Where next for Benenden’s Year 13 leavers?

From Medicine in Hong Kong and Theoretical Physics at UCL to Musical Theatre in Manchester and Viticulture and Oenology in New Zealand, their plans reflect an impressively broad range of interests and ambitions.

Swipe to meet six of our leavers and discover what they hope to do next.
Among them, Abigail achieved five A* grades. That's a remarkable result, but the variety and confidence of the girls’ plans are every bit as exciting.

Congratulations to all six and their peers. We look forward to seeing where their next steps take them.
