We would like to say a huge thank you for the generous donation of bedding plants. All classes throughout the school have had the opportunity to help plant the flowers in the front garden.
We are so happy with how bright and colourful it looks, now offering a picturesque and uplifting space for our school.

π AMAZING NEWS FROM THE 'IF YOU WERE AN ENGINEER' NORTH EAST AWARDS! π
We are bursting with pride today! Yesterday, the regional Exhibition and Awards ceremony took place and Burnside Primary had some incredible success.
Huge congratulations to Ada (Year 1) and Henry (Year 6), who were both named regional winners for their fantastic designs! π
The celebrations didn't stop there - Henry also took home the highly prestigious regional 'Judges Award' and the professional engineers on the judging panel were incredibly impressed with his innovative idea. π οΈπ‘
To put their achievements into perspective, there were over 70,000 entries nationally, split across just 25 regions. For Burnside to have two regional winners and a Judges Award is an absolutely phenomenal achievement!
Please join us in giving Ada and Henry a massive round of applause. The future of engineering looks very bright indeed! πππ

π HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO MRS. HIGHAM! π
We have some incredibly proud school news to share!
Our brilliant Mrs. Higham has been appointed as a Primary Mastery Specialist with the prestigious Great North Maths Hub !
The assessors visited our school recently to watch her teach, and they were completely blown away by her energy, her clear explanations, and her absolute passion for helping children master mathematics.
The best part? She isnβt going anywhere! Mrs. Higham will continue to be a full-time teacher right here at Burnside.
In her new role, she will be working alongside regional experts and bringing the absolute best, cutting-edge teaching strategies straight back into our classrooms. This means all of our pupils will benefit from enhanced, world-class math provision.
We are so lucky to have teachers who constantly strive for excellence. Thank you for everything you do, Mrs. Higham!

Our Burnside sunflowers have been collected today for the Sunflower Project!
The children have been lovingly caring for their plants since the start of this half term. They are now heading to SUEZ's Seghill site, where they will join sunflowers from other schools to create a magical nature trail and sunflower field for the community to enjoy. π
A huge thank you to everyone involved, and a massive well done to our children for their fantastic gardening skills!
