Oral language plays a vital role in children’s learning, literacy and social and emotional development.

Our latest guide supports parents and educators with practical, evidence-informed strategies to help children build school-ready language skills.

The guide explores:
• Building oral language through meaningful interaction
• Supporting listening and attention
• Growing children’s vocabulary
• Sharing stories and naming feelings
• Working with settings to spot and support language needs
• Using evidence-based approaches to meet individual needs

With language developing rapidly between the ages of two and six, early support can make a lasting difference to children’s confidence, communication and readiness for school.

Today our Year Six pupils enjoyed an exciting visit to St. James’ Park! 🖤🤍

The children had the opportunity to explore behind the scenes, learn about the history of the stadium and discover what happens on match days. It was a fantastic experience and they represented our school beautifully.

Good afternoon, this is Year 5 reporting for Beaconhill News!

Year 5 have taken on the role of news reporters this week to report on the tragic tale of poor Romeo and Juliet.
We thought carefully about the who, what, when, why and how of it all when producing our news reports. As you can see from the photos, we took our role very seriously.

It made my day to be given this by one of the children in Year Three. Thank you for thinking about your grown ups and showing that you appreciate us!

I think a little thanks needs to go to Mrs Stoddart and Mr Gray too for helping the children make the notes!

It just goes to show, the little things matter and make a huge difference!

Thank you again,
A very happy and proud Miss Wilkinson

Year 6 have been creating puzzles based upon popular children’s books in their Computing lessons. This afternoon, they shared their puzzles with the pupils from Year 1. It was lovely to see our oldest and some of our youngest pupils working so enthusiastically and respectfully alongside each other.
