We are pleased to be working with Portsmouth SCITT teacher training this year – we have been hosting trainees who are nearing the end of their journey towards becoming qualified teachers.

This year Portsmouth SCITT have brought their training to the island for the first time - giving residents the unique opportunity to gain a PGCE with qualified teacher status without regular travel to the mainland. They currently have a few places remaining for a September 2026 start.

Portsmouth SCITT pride themselves on small cohort sizes, quality mentoring and their focus on trainee wellbeing. The course is tailored to meet your needs and is suitable for all graduates – from those with a passion to teach but no school experience to those who already work in schools and want to take the step into being a class teacher.

Teaching is a highly rewarding career and gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children on the Isle of Wight. Teaching also comes with a competitive starting salary of £32,916 and excellent opportunities for career progression.

A great final day for Year 6 on our residential today at Thorpe Park. The children had a brilliant time enjoying the rides and spending time together before heading back to the island. We had some very brave adventures.

Once again, they represented the school really well throughout the trip and should be proud of themselves. Lots of tired faces on the journey home, but plenty of good memories made over the last couple of days.

Thank you for all of your support — we’re looking forward to seeing everyone back tomorrow.
