What a successful day we had yesterday at our Restart a Heart Day in Cowdenbeath!

Lots of people came along to see us and learned how to do CPR 💔❤️

There are also lots of new Mini Medics in West Fife! 🚑

Thank you to all who came along to either participate, observe, help or visit!
Particular thanks to Suzzi, Shaz, Ian and Stuart from our KM First Aid events team and to Rachael who helped for a few hours each (we did 11 hours altogether!)

Thanks also to Cllr Darren Watt - Cowdenbeath Ward for dropping in to see us and for helping to raise awareness of our event.

Special thanks go to Community Use Fife for supporting this event by providing the room free of charge and to the staff at the Maxwell Centre for looking after us so well, as always.

A special hello to Daisy dog who came all the way from Leven to see us with her mummy, Chrissie, and for checking all our manikins to see that they were all working properly 🥰

Today it’s ’feet up’ for us all!

❇️KM First Aid is running FREE half-hour sessions throughout the day on FRIDAY 16th OCTOBER, at the Maxwell Centre in Cowdenbeath, from 9.30am until 8:15pm!❇️

‼️There will also be 3 dedicated MINI MEDICS sessions at 10:15am, 3:15pm and 5.30pm‼️

Come along and learn basic CPR for adults, children and babies and take away a certificate!
Learn how to save a life!

There’s also a cuppa and a free face shield for everyone who attends.
There’ll be free pencils and stickers for the Mini Medics!

This is exactly why we need Pauline’s Law and why KM First Aid supports it!
Having taught first aid to students in a high school, I’ve seen several leave with a regulated qualification! 🤕🩹❤️‍🩹 ✅

“WHY WE NEED PAULINE'S LAW”

Those aren't actually my words. ❤️

They're the words on the front page of today's Glenrothes Gazette.

Underneath a picture of my beautiful Mum.

I shared the front page last night, but today I wanted to share the article that goes with it.

I've spent months talking about why I believe young people should have the opportunity to learn Emergency First Aid and lifesaving skills, and explaining why I believe Pauline's Law matters.

Today, people can pick up their local newspaper and read about it for themselves.

And I think I'm just going to let the article speak for itself. ❤️

Because I don't think I need to say very much about this one.

Seeing Mum on that front page for the first time was incredibly emotional.

But knowing that today it's actually out there – that people will walk into shops, see her face and perhaps stop to read about the campaign carrying her name – feels very, very special. ❤️

I've said from the beginning that Pauline's Law is about taking something positive from the worst day of our lives.

It's about what happened to Mum.

It's about the people who stepped forward to help her.

And it's about making sure more people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to step forward for somebody else.

That's the reason I started talking about this.

Thank you so much to Allan Crow and everyone at Fife Today involved for giving Mum and Pauline's Law such incredible coverage – not only in today's Glenrothes Gazette, but across all of your local papers over the past week.

You've treated Mum's story with such care, and that means more to my family and me than we can properly put into words. ❤️

And thank you to everyone who keeps reading, sharing, commenting, asking questions and having these conversations.

Please keep having them. ❤️

Because this is our proudest moment yet.

Our beautiful Mum.

And a campaign created because of what happened to her, being talked about in newspapers across Fife.

That's pretty special. 🥹❤️

You can also enjoy a cuppa and a biscuit after you’ve done your CPR ☕️🧋

1) Tomorrow is never promised - we always think we ‘have time’ 🕰️🗓️

2) Others may not have ‘time’ if they need emergency first aid or CPR 🤕💔

3) If you’re going to do something, do it now! (if you can) - life really is too short! 🤔👍❣️

Yesterday some of the KM First Aid events team attended the Scottish Community Resuscitation Conference at St Andrews University.
Many thanks to the East Neuk First Responders for being excellent hosts and to all the speakers and those who ran the workshops.

Lots of interesting discussions and lots of information and ideas taken away by many of us!
