Weekly highlights so far….through engaging in jigsaws, early maths games, an autumn sensory tuff tray and retelling stories about feelings using puppets and painting, children develop a wide range of important skills. Jigsaws encourage problem-solving, concentration, hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, while maths games introduce early concepts such as counting, matching, sorting, shapes and patterns. The autumn sensory tuff tray stimulates curiosity and exploration through different textures, colours and natural materials, supporting language development, in English and Welsh and sensory awareness. Retelling stories about feelings with puppets helps children recognise and express their emotions, develop empathy and build communication skills, while painting provides a creative way to explore feelings, imagination and self-expression 🎨

Today’s nursery highlights 🧡 Every session is thought through to meet children’s developmental needs through play. The children also enjoyed singing and story time. A two course lunch, chicken, broccoli & noodles. Followed by melon 🍉and an afternoon snack, breadsticks and oranges🍊

🧡🍁Our Autumn songs have began this week in nursery 🧡🍂There are so many developmental benefits to singing such as;
🗣️ Language & communication – builds vocabulary, pronunciation and understanding of new words.
🧠 Memory & concentration – repeating familiar rhymes helps children remember words, sequences and patterns.
🔢 Early maths skills – counting songs introduce numbers, order, patterns and simple mathematical concepts.
👂 Listening skills – encourages children to listen carefully to sounds, words, rhythm and instructions.
🎵 Phonological awareness – rhyming and repeated sounds help children notice the sounds within words, supporting future reading and writing.
💬 Confidence & self-expression – joining in with songs gives children opportunities to use their voices and express themselves.
🤝 Social development – singing together encourages turn-taking, participation and a sense of belonging.
🤸 Physical development – action rhymes encourage children to clap, stamp, jump, dance and develop coordination.
