Last chance to sign up for Children's Mile in War Memorial Park on Sunday 14th June. We have manage to extend the deadline until Wednesday. Here's some photos of all the happy faces last year. It is likely over 1000 children and adults will be taking part. Sky Blue Sam was there and Perry the Bull from the Birmingham Commonwealth games (Yes, he is kissing Mr Rogers in the photo. We are old friends as we performed together in the opening ceremony in 2022). Let's make this our biggest year ever. If you haven't got the letter then please go to the school office tonight and sign up. Every participant gets a lovely colourful t-short to wear on the day and keep as a memory.

Congratulations to both our Year 2 and Year 3 Gymnastics teams for their hard work, resilience and wonderful performances at recent competitions. We are so proud to say they both finished in 3rd place in their events! 🎉🤸‍♀️This is a wonderful achievement as the level of competition and scores by all schools was the highest we have seen since these events started. Our Year 6 leaders also did an amazing job preparing the children and looking after them on the day. Thank you so much to Tribe: Cheer, Dance & Fitness for always hosting such brilliant events and giving our children a chance to shine. Thanks to Your School Games Mr Kingham and Mr Davoile for organising!

What happens at Parkour club?
We walk over to Studio 17, Fargo Village. Ben and AJ from Ascension dance teach us the discipline, focus and skill to be a Parkour runner. We play games (including dodgeball today!) and build friendships in a safe environment. We learn to support and encourage each other to jump, vault, roll and build and run 'lines'. Every child that takes part, smiles, laughs and gets a well-needed physical workout. Parents pick up from Studio 17 at 4.45pm (which is a very short walk from school).

Why do I need to pay for this club?
We are so lucky to have specialist teachers and fantastic equipment at Fargo (see photo). Ben and AJ are experienced Parkour dance artists and teachers. They are local boys and regularly perform across the city and country. To do a club like this outside school, would cost at least double. As a school, we see massive benefits in this club, so cover a lot of the cost.

How do I sign my child up for Summer term?
If your child is in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6, go on to the My Child at School app now to sign up and pay. Go to the school office, if you have any problems.

Coventry City Council is asking people in Coventry about walking, wheeling and cycling. They are asking people how much active travel they do, the barriers they face and preferences for different types of cycle route. The survey is open to anyone who lives and works in Coventry. It is so important that as many people as possible complete the survey and get some positive change in our city. Scan the QR code or follow the link to complete the survey.

In January, Mr Rogers attended a celebration event with Sonia Sabri Co. We are so proud of our partnership with the company. We work together to provide our South Asian parent and child dance club on Fridays. We are currently in conversations and looking forward to improving what we offer for our families and community. We want to congratulate Sonia Sabri, as she was awarded an MBE in the King's honours list. A wonderful achievement and very well deserved. Mr Rogers and those in attendance were treated to a most beautiful performance by dance artists from the company. Sonia Sabri Company Coventry Sport Your School Games Youth Sport Trust

Staying home alone 20/01/2026

Guidance from the NSPCC
Going out or staying home alone
As your child gets older, it's likely they'll want a bit more independence or want to explore alone during the summer holidays. But are they ready to stay home or go out alone

Is it legal to leave a child home alone?
A child who isn't old enough or who doesn't feel comfortable should never be left home alone. If this is the case, it's best to look into childcare options that might work for your family. Read our advice on this below.

There's no legal age a child can be left home alone, but it’s against the law to leave a child alone if it puts them at risk. Every child matures differently, so it would be almost impossible to have a "one size fits all" law.

At what age can a child be left home alone?
Learning to be independent is an important part of growing up. Between work, appointments and other family commitments – every parent may need to leave their child home alone at some point so it’s good to have a plan in place.

You might wonder what age your child should be before they can be left alone at home. But there's no 'one-size-fits all' answer. Every child is different, so build up their independence at their pace – and check in with them to make sure they feel safe.

AMERICAN NINJA WARRIOR JUNIOR | Paxton from Ninja Kidz TV Hangs on for the Win! 17/12/2025

Which Southfields' children will be the next Ninja Warriors? We are so lucky to be working with Ascension UK, using their Fargo Village studio, equipment and outstanding coaching for our Monday after school Parkour club. A few spaces are still available at ÂŁ25 for the Spring term. We are supporting with the cost of this club because we know the value of Parkour for strength, balance, coordination and agility. Last term our children's resilience, focus and confidence all vastly improved as well. STEM club and football are full now so this is the only Monday club left for KS2 children. Free places are available if parents sign up to our Parents' English club. Check out this video for just one of the uses for Parkour techniques learnt in our club:
