Stravinsky’s Petrushka performed this evening by the very classy and detailed Orchestre De Paris Philharmonie. Klaus Makela gets my vote for his wonderful energy and insistence on stunning dynamics from the players. A wonderful evening and great to have a French Orchestra for a change - they don’t come over often enough!

Enjoyed a free concert given by The Ulster Orchestra in Belfast at the Presbyterian Hall in preparation for their trip to France to play at the Berlioz Festival.
After hearing Andras Schiff perform the Schumann Piano Concerto, under Ivan Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra at the BBC Proms, I wasn’t expecting an encore like this! The Hungarian spirit triumphed when the orchestra stood up and decided to sing, with a more than capable accompanist! 2nd Study Singing at its best!
