Sixth form Photography, Art and English students have just returned from a 4-day visit to Paris, the bustling city of European culture. Despite heavy rain on day one, they had a very enjoyable weekend. They visited the Musée D’Orsay and the Musée D’Art Moderne de Paris to take in art from the 19th century to the present day, and in a packed itinerary took in in most of the well-known sights of the city, as well as having time for some shopping.

Members of the STEM club from years 8-10 competed in the international Lego League competition at Birmingham University. The theme this year was 'Unearthed' and students had to compete in a robot competition and create an innovation project. Our year 10 team won the judges award and we are super proud of all them.

Last Thursday, for World Book Day, there was a poetry slam at breaktime. The students wrote their own poems and read them out to an audience in the hall. Additionally, staff dressed up as a book character - unbelievably, we had two Miss Trunchbulls!

Students in February were celebrated by staff, parents and carers for their contribution to the Caludon community. Students of excellence were awarded in a range of areas, which included students thriving in faculty subjects, House contributions, outstanding behaviour, 100% attendance, excellence in extra-curricular activities and finishing on the prestigious Headteacher awards. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our heroes of Caludon along with parents and carers.

Our Sports Council has been delivering fun and engaging golf sessions to primary school pupils, helping them grow their confidence and leadership skills along the way. Through teamwork, communication and problem solving activities, the children are learning to support one another, take initiative, and step into leadership roles - all while discovering a new sport!

Y7 students visited Stratford-upon-Avon this week to learn more about William Shakespeare. They visited Shakespeare’s Birthplace and toured the house he was born and grew up in, as well as learning about his family. They learnt lots about how people lived and what they did for work during the Elizabethan era, which was really useful context for our Shakespeare lessons in English. Students also had an incredibly engaging and inciteful workshop on Romeo and Juliet. This was led by a professional actor who explored key themes with students, as well as working on some ‘freeze frame’ acting and performing of key quotes. It was a hugely rewarding and enjoyable day!

Year 10 Geography students completed the first of their two compulsory Geography trips yesterday. They were a credit to the school and approached members of the public to complete their questionnaires about regeneration with confidence and charisma. Students were able to collect a large range of data to ensure success in their paper 3 exams. Well done Year 10 Geographers and thank you Mr Frankish, Mr Walker & Miss West for their support.

An unforgettable A Level Politics trip to Washington, D.C.! Students walked the National Mall, visited the Capitol and Supreme Court, and stood at the monuments that tell the story of American democracy. A brilliant opportunity to bring their studies to life and broaden their global perspective.
