Hey everyone! We’re so excited to announce the new PPL exec 23-24. We’ll be posting everyone’s individual roles up on here so stay tuned!

Warwick PPL Society recently held elections for the new executive committee for 2023-2024.
Thank you to everyone who participated in elections, and a massive congratulations to the new exec taking over in the coming weeks!

Unfortunately, (we know you’re all crying inside) the last Brett and Beek circle is finally upon us…😭😭
So, to celebrate the end of an absolutely iconic era, we’re inviting you all to an Annie and Tamara themed circle!!
The rules are simple…dress up as something beginning with the letter A or T, or, if you’d prefer, something related to one of us!
We’ve really enjoyed being your social secs, and would love for all of you to come and celebrate this last circle with us.
Even if you’ve never been to a PPL social before (or are a regular!), it would be lovely to see many of your faces attend our last event!
We’ll be dancing the night (and our responsibility!) away in Neon afterwards, so make sure to grab tickets for that following our last goodbye! 🕺
WHEN: Friday 24th Feb - meet @ 7:45pm for an 8:15pm start
WHERE: Assembly, Leamington Spa / Neon
THEME: Things that begin with A or T / something related to Annie or Tamara
For one last time….
Lots of love from your social secs,
Brett and Beek xx

The next position up for election is the marketing secretary!

Elections are coming up soon…!!
The form for elections sign up will be linked in our Instagram bio once we announce the first position up for election.
Being part of the executive committee of a society is a great way to build transferable skills and provides evidence of such skills in job applications.
If you’re interested, look out for the positions announced over the coming days! If you have any queries don’t hesitate to reach out.
See you on election night!

Quiet on the green, PPL are about to take a swing!
Channel your inner Tiger Woods and come join us for a game of pub golf!
Find your Caddie, practise your strokes, and don’t get a Triple Bogey!
The Rules:
There will be 5 teams and 6 pubs to visit.
In each pub there will be a specific drink that everyone has to get, and the goal is to finish it in 1 (par)! Each sip is one stroke, and everyone has to record how many strokes they rack up in each pub - these added together will be the score for the team.
The lowest score wins and the winning team will get a free shot in Kelsies!
When: 7pm, Friday 3rd February
Where: Leamington Pubs, meet at Spoons (The Benjamin Satchwell)
Theme: Golf (try and dress up as best you can!)
Time to show us how a hole in one is done - try not to end up in a bunker!
Love your social secs,
Brett and Beek

⚠️internship opportunity - Manis Law⚠️
This is a virtual (unpaid) internship with Manis Law - a boutique immigration firm based in London. This will begin on the 13th of December and last for two weeks. The deadline for this application is the
9th of December 2022.
They are currently looking to create a series of articles, covering a wide basis of immigration law, so when searching common FAQs regarding immigration or current immigration routes these articles will come up on google searches / their website and provide easy simple advice. This will entail some research into the topics and therefore should be excellent for learning the knowledge around these subjects. There is also an opportunity to continue in the New Year if all works out. It is also a great chance to get some legal experience to put on your CV, a chance to create some interesting articles, and develop your research skills.
This is a relaxed internship, and will not require full-time. Put your best foot forward and complete as much as you can; this is a holiday to recover from the first term, so make sure you also prioritise rest. You will have an introductory meeting where you get your tasks and regular contact with the firm's solicitors. Sammy (Careers Secretary) will also be on call if you need any help with a familiar face.
If you have any questions, please message us at on instagram

Warwick PPL Society and IRSoc are hosting a book launch! 🎉

The talk will be followed by an open Q&A session where you will have the opportunity to learn more about the book and Russia. There will also be a book signing so you can get your hands on a signed copy!
This will be a great opportunity to learn more about international politics and acquire a book that will come in useful in your studies

The Theme
If coming, you must fill in the attached google form, which has the choices for food on the night and also a few questions so we can gauge your ideological opinions and ideas about current affairs. This must be completed by Wednesday 26th October.

Please make sure you adhere to this dress code, as we intend to reflect the current proportions of the Commons today.
How the evening will work
We will create a seating plan of around 6 people at each table, where different topics will be discussed for 15 minutes throughout the meal with people of varying viewpoints to your own.
The topics will be diverse with no pre-existing knowledge required and so can be engaged with by anyone studying any field.
Payment
The dinner will cost £25 which includes entry, a 3 course meal and a drink (a glass of wine, pint of beer or a soft drink). More drinks will be available to buy on the night.
