Engineering Day at Warwick 17th March 2018

Congratulations to eight old Summer who was the winner in our Drone competition!

This is just a quick note to thank the hundreds of families that braved the cold weather and turned up for Engineering Day. All the volunteers are exhausted but content that another day came and went and more people were thrilled with the many faces of Engineering. There wasn’t a stand that was idle, lots of Creme eggs were handed out to the Hunt the Rocket competition winners - and we will announce the winner of the drone next week once we’ve combed through the many many entries.

We hope you enjoyed the activities, the talks and tours. Special thanks go to our student volunteers who gave up their Saturday to help out with these stands - as well as the various staff members who were there at every step of the way.

Looking forward to seeing you all there tomorrow - a lot of people have put in a lot of hard work for our almost 30 different activities we have for you over the day! As well as that we have 5 talks running throughout the day and the lab tours - which last year were particularly popular.

For our younger engineers we have a competition for them to win some nice sweets (sorry parents!) and we of course have a face painter too!

For the older engineers (although nothing stopping the young ones from trying!) we have a really interesting competition - the winner of which will get a fancy drone to play with :)

Whilst the little ones get some nice Cream-Eggs and Lego if they finish the “Hunt the Rocket” challenge, for those after a real challenge enter our other competition to be in the running to win an app controlled drone with built-in streaming HD camera!

The speakers for Engineering Day are now all confirmed - come and hear some interesting talks throughout the day about different engineering disciplines ...

Getting pretty excited now! Less than 7 days for Engineering Day 2018 - all the last minute preparations underway - we hope to see you all there.

Getting really close now!!

Engineering Day is getting close now - 17th March 2018 @ School of Engineering - doors open 10am all welcome.

The excitement is building up, along with our VR stand and Warwick Submarine we have Warwick Racing and their racing simulator as well as Warwick Aviation showing off their home built jet engine!! Then we have Warwick Biomedical Engineering outreach and many more.

If you come you build, disassemble, simulate and be stimulated all in one place!!

Our Hunt the Robot is back for the little ones - except now you have to Hunt the Rocket Ships! Keep your eyes peeled!! 🚀

One of the nicest things about the School of Engineering is the diversity of the engineering we undertake - and as a consequence our research. One of the many Student Group projects that will be on display at Engineering Day will be the Warwick Submarine - a pedal powered submarine that Warwick builds/upgrades each year and competes with internationally. This will be on display (assuming it is not in pieces still!) and some related activities around it. Its a mean looking machine and amazing that it is pedal powered!!
