We are a friendly flying school offering training for the UK PPL and LAPL. In addition we also offer further training for licence holders including night rating, aerobatic training and IR(R). INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT ✈️
This week's instructor spotlight is on our Head of Training, Claire Leadbetter! Claire has been with us since April 2023, but her aviation journey began long before she joined the team here at Almat.
When Claire initially left school, she didn't know what she wanted to do. She worked in the film industry for 4 years, before taking her first trial flight in November 2000, following a holiday to Hawaii!
It rained - but she absolutely loved it. After saving for 2 years, she started flight school, and passed her PPL skills test in 2004. After this, she received a sponsorship from Cabair, and began an internship with them for 4 years, gaining ratings and invaluable experience as she went.
After her internship, she became a flight instructor with Cabair, and eventually became an instructor with us in 2023!
Claire is a treasured member of our team, and and we’re incredibly lucky to have her experience, knowledge, and passion for flying guiding our students every day.
