We look forward to seeing you in the Autumn.
A huge congratulations to Joshua in U6 who was awarded with the ‘Heart of Henry’s’ at the final full school assembly in the summer term. This prestigious award, in honour of former pupil Leanne Goodlad is given to somebody who has shown great fortitude, bravery and spirit.
Joshua came to the aid of a woman who suffered cardiac arrest whilst he was at work. His quick thinking and calm response saved the woman’s life through the use of a defibrillator. We were delighted that former member of staff Mr Schofield, was able to return to school to present the award to Joshua who is hoping to study medicine at Exeter University.
We were delighted to welcome back Katrina Ho (Class of 2016) to present at Speech Day at the end of term. Katrina took a degree apprenticeship route, achieving a 1st class BEng degree whilst also working for AtkinsRéalis. She spoke to a group of Year 9 and 10 pupils about life as a civil engineer working on huge national rail projects.
Congratulations to the editorial team at Henry’s Herald on the completion of their first student newspaper. This was published in the last week of term. Fascinating articles included a debate around HS2, a review of House Drama and interviews with teachers. Well done to all pupils involved and Miss Kavanagh for her support.

Yet another amazing term has concluded here at King Henry VIII School. Wishing the Henry’s family a well-deserved, relaxing summer break.
Good luck to all our Upper Sixth leavers and we look forward to
seeing everyone else back in September.
Students were excited to discover our mock election results. The assembly included an 'exit poll' conducted by Otty, one of our A level Politics students, as well as a constituency map of the school to model how our first past the post electoral system works. This resulted in a Lib Dem landslide with Jaya taking on the role of Prime Minister. They will be held to account by the Conservatives as the official opposition. A huge well done to all those involved!
Tuesday evening saw our final concert of the year. The Summer Concert is always a mixture of sadness, as we say goodbye to our departing Year 13 students, and hope, as we see a little more of the younger students.
This year was no exception with lovely contributions from all our Year 13s and some fantastic performances from younger groups. Particular highlights were Senior Choir performing Stanford's 'Beati quorum vir' which we will take on tour next summer and an impressive rendition of Radiohead's 'Creep' from our new Year 12 band.
It has been a terrific year for the music department and we have heard some outstanding performances from students. There is certainly a great deal to look forward to in September!

Congratulations to our Upper Sixth for finishing their A Levels. It was wonderful to see them return to School this week to celebrate and collect prizes. Leaving school at 18 is a momentous occasion and with great pride, we see another generation of pupils leave, ready and confident for the world that awaits.
Last week we held two very successful Sports Days in the Junior School. Congratulations to all the children for their hard work and team spirit!
A special shout out to White's House for winning this year's trophy.

We have been buzzing with election fever over the past week. Our candidates have embarked on a fierce campaign with posters, broadcasts and canvassing in tutor time. This culminated in Thursday's hugely informative lunchtime hustings. Voting took place on Friday with results due to be announced this week.
May the best candidate win!
Preparations are well underway for the School’s annual Prizegiving Ceremony, being held this evening in the Burgess Hall. Celebrating the wonderful achievements of our Upper Sixth students during their time with us at Henry's.
We look forward to welcoming the Lord Mayor of Coventry, Cllr Mutton and former pupil Kelechi Apakama as guest speaker. Plus our dedicated parents and students - Class of 2024.
A huge thank you to the talented Husayn for baking an incredible birthday cake for Miss Virdi’s birthday! 🎂
Not only was it beautifully made including detailed chemistry apparatus, but it was also absolutely delicious.
Miss Virdi and the entire class loved it, and we all appreciate the effort and love you put into baking it. You're baking skills are impressive!
We were delighted to welcome Bishop Ruth to School this week. As an ICONS School we discussed our strong links with the cathedral, before she met a group of our student leaders who spoke about their involvement in Peer Support, Healthy Minds Council, Anti-Bullying, Faith Council, Christian Union as well as the recent whole school Culture Day.
A ‘Tale As Old As Time’, King Henry VIII School invites you to ‘Be Our Guest’ for what promises to be another fantastic production!
Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Menken and Tim Rice. The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress.
If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
Tickets available for tonight only.

In the last few days, they have examined the River Ouse’s defences and how they have changed over time.
Students also explored the coastal changes at Flamborough Head and Spurn Point, investigating the forces that shape these unique landscapes and the impact of human activity on these environments.
The trip has also included a guided tour of a Drax Power Station, where they learned about energy production, sustainability and the transition to renewable energy sources.

Last night a team of six Lower Sixth students attended the Rugby School Inter Science Quiz.
There were questions testing their knowledge of Physics, Biology & Chemistry beyond the syllabus and there were also general science questions. For example, they had to identify birds from their calls, unscramble anagrams, work out scientific themed Dingbats and recognise models of chemicals or various species from pictures or even some preserved inside a jar!
A fun and challenging evening was had by all.
