Another highlights of the Coventry University Automotive & Transport Design Show 2025 was Honglin Lai’s Volkswagen sports pick-up concept - a design that blends utility, performance.
Honglin took the idea of a traditional pick-up and injected it with sports-car DNA with a low, aggressive stance while maintaining the practicality. The design struck a harmonic tone between everyday usability and weekend thrill-seeker appeal.

Jeonhoon Kim unveiled his striking and bold work at Coventry University Automotive & Transport Design Show 2025 - the Audi Vision 52 Avant - a bold reimagination of Audi’s design legacy.
Inspired by the iconic Auto Union Type 52, Jeonhoon translated its flowing teardrop silhouette into a futuristic vision for the modern era. The result? A design that balances heritage and design modernity daringly forward-looking.
The Vision 52 Avant doesn’t just pay homage to the past — it pushes it into an entirely new design space.
Displayed with an exceptional presentation at the show, this concept captured the imagination of visitors and industry professionals alike. It’s a perfect example of Coventry’s strength in nurturing designers who respect brand DNA while challenging what’s possible.

Flashback to Coventry University Automotive and Transport Design Show 2025, one project in particular stopped visitors in their tracks — Kanguk Choi’s visionary Lexus concept.
Kanguk reimagined Lexus’s design language with a bold yet elegant interpretation that perfectly balanced luxury and innovation. The proportions were confident and athletic, while the surface treatment carried that signature Lexus sophistication — sharp, precise lines flowing seamlessly into sculpted, dynamic forms.
The design conveyed distinctive brand cues ensured it was unmistakably Lexus.
Presented as a beautifully executed physical model, the concept brought the vision to life in three dimensions, allowing every contour and shadow to be appreciated up close. It wasn’t just a model — it was a statement of creativity, skill, and deep brand understanding.
Kanguk’s work is a perfect example of why Coventry remains a leader in nurturing the next generation of world-class automotive designers.

Throwing it back to one of the most compelling automotive design concepts from the Coventry University Automotive and Transport Design Show.
Lee Seung Choel's design stood out not just for its ex*****on, but for the strength of its concept - a bold, forward-thinking approach to urban transport and city walking. The designer demonstrated a deep understanding of proportion, brand language, and user experience, blending it all into a cohesive vision.
What made this project exceptional was its clarity and confidence, well-resolved surfaces, and the detailing showed real sensitivity to material and form.
Beyond the aesthetics, the design responded thoughtfully to future challenges in urban mobility, with a focus on sustainability, user-centric innovation, and refined packaging. With a micro e-bike it felt like a concept rooted in reality.
Many thanks to everyone that attended our Industry degree show last night.
It was a brilliant to see so much enthusiasm for the student's work and to catch-up. Also, a very happy 30th Anniversary 'year of 1995' alumni. It was fantastic to see some familiar well established faces in the crowd.
To keep the ball rolling on student work we shall continue to post project work such as Kanguk Choi's Colour transforming vehicle over the coming day. Enjoy!
