Week 5, our final pastel project, was particularly interesting...Camels (and also alpacas in our case) in Cairo. As you can see from the finished portraits, we discovered plenty of beautiful characters, each with their own unique personality and a healthy dose of sass!😂
Using oil pastels and coloured pencils, everyone explored layering techniques to build texture, depth and vibrant colour. The expressive features, flowing fur and individual character of each adorable character made for a fun and rewarding project.
As always, it's amazing to see how the same subject inspires such different but absolutely stunning interpretations.

With the sunshine pouring outside this week, our Beach Dunes project couldn’t have felt more perfect ☀️
This week, our students explored the rich, velvety beauty of oil pastels on toned paper, creating atmospheric skies, glowing sands, and windswept grasses inspired by peaceful summer evenings by the sea. The oval compositions added such a lovely sense of focus and movement, and it’s been a joy to watch everyone experiment so confidently with colour blending and expressive mark-making.
As always, every piece has its own personality and charm, and we’re so proud of what our lovelies created this week 👏👏

Week 3 was all about movement, softness and the beautiful challenge of drawing synchronised swimmers using watercolour pencils.
This project was another excercise in exploring the versatility of watercolour pencils to draw faces, figures, foreshortening and subtle skin tones using a very limited palette.....and the struggle was definitely real for our lovelies this week 😅 This wasn’t just one face to draw there were FIVE! Faces and figures can feel quite intimidating, but everyone persevered brilliantly and faced those fears head on.
There was so much to think about in these compositions ..flowing water, movement, proportion and keeping all those swimmers looking graceful rather than tangled 😂..but the finished artwork turned out absolutely beautiful, delicate and full of personality.
Our newbies learnt all about the facial and body proportions and honestly..delivered beautifully!
So proud of them all 👏✨

Week 2 brought a splash of London charm with our - Old London Bus project.
Carrying on with the use of watercolour pencil and soft washes, everyone explored how loose, sketchy marks can bring texture, movement and atmosphere to a painting. That deceptively simple-looking bus/van also proved to be a great exercise in two-point perspective, helping to keep the structure of the bus believable and sound whilst still allowing for a loose, expressive style. As always here's the beautiful artwork created by our talented lot👏

A warm welcome back to all our returning students, and an extended welcome to those joining us for the first time this Summer Term.
We began the term with Ripple and Flow - A Water Study, using watercolour pencils to explore a range of water textures ... from calm reflections to more dynamic, rippling surfaces. Working with watercolour pencils offers a great balance of control and fluidity, allowing everyone to build colour gradually before softening and blending with water.
It was a brilliant way to develop observation, mark-making and confidence with the medium. A gentle “ripply” start to the term with some beautiful work😄

What a truly special day it was 💛
Our end-of-term exhibition was such a beautiful celebration of everyone’s hard work, creativity, and progress. It was so lovely to see the room filled with smiling faces, friends, families, and our wonderful art community .. all coming together!
The support, encouragement, and pride in the room was just incredible… moments like these really remind us how special this little art family is 🥰
And I must say… not only are our art family incredibly talented artists, but they also make very lovely models too 😁

Week 11 - Alpine waterfall in acrylics.
Our Alpine Waterfall paintings were all about capturing that beautiful sense of movement, the rush of water, the stillness of the rocks, and those lovely cool tones that instantly make you feel calm.
Everyone really embraced the challenge of layering, texture, and light… and it’s been such a joy watching each piece come to life in its own unique way!
And this is just the beginning…
Next up I’ll be sharing some highlights from our end-of-term exhibition and final project, such a special way to round off the term 💛

Part 2 - Behind the masterpieces...😄
Here are more of our lovely Art family, each bringing their own style, stories and quiet determination to the table. It’s never just about the painting ...it’s the conversations, the laughter and the little moments in between that make it so special.
And of course… the beautiful artwork is the bonus. ❤️
