40 years' engineering experience. He is trained in applying security controls within the defence industry through DISA, along with previous security clearances and has a MSc in manufacturing management. He owned and managed a multi-million pound turnover engineering company serving the Aerospace, Defence, Security, Oil & Gas, Formula1 and various commercial industries. Therefore he has a good understanding of customer confidentiality, manufacturing requirements and quality standards. Whilst running this company he was approached many times by innovators such as inventors, hobbyists, home based design engineers, entrepreneurs, students and the general public asking if his company could help them with their ideas by manufacturing parts and advising on design. Obviously the cost of a large company doing this was prohibitive however Richard realised that it was very difficult for these innovators to access affordable manufacturing services and this has inspired him to set up FPM. He has set up a double storey workshop with all the types of machines required to manufacture parts to help people with their ideas. Richard will carry out all of the machining and manage processes. With this approach it enables him to provide a cost effective service. Richard's supply chain connections mean he can also out source many other services including various treatments. In addition he can source the wide range of exotic materials used in industry today.
