Happy Lunar New Year. Wishing you health, happiness and peace in the year of the Rabbit
The deadline for submitting your UCAS application for 2023 entry is fast approaching - you'll need to send it in by 25 January 2023. If youโre still working on yours (or youโre advising someone on their application), here are our top tips for writing a great personal statement ๐
1. Plan ahead
Think carefully about the content of your statement, and give yourself enough time to draft and refine your text.
2. Focus on the course
70-80% of your personal statement should explain why you want to study your chosen subject. The rest should summarise your interests and experiences more generally, and how they relate to your course.
3. Be clear and concise
Clearly articulate the points you want to make and try not to waffle. The word count is a helpful guide - you donโt have to write exactly that amount.
4. Structure matters
Ensure your statement has a clear beginning, middle, and end. Make sure you conclude by summarising your academic interest in your chosen course.
5. Check your spelling and grammar
Read through your personal statement carefully when youโve finished writing, and ask someone to proofread it before submitting your application. They may spot things youโve missed.
Head to our website for more information on personal statements, plus key dates and deadlines for applying
