3B had a phenomenal sports day full of laughter and excitement! We enjoyed the day so much that we recorded our own class race in Thrive for those of you who may have missed it. We are definitely a competitive lot.
Today, 3LS visited the local allotment to explore how growing your own food can help local communities as part of our Humanities topic on Food Conservation. Dave, a local resident who uses the allotment, showed the students around and let them try some of the fruit he was growing. The pupils learnt that growing your own fruit and vegetables is a sustainable way to ensure you are eating fresh and healthy food at home. The students also learnt that it is good for the environment as it eliminates the plastic packaging you find in supermarkets and the pollution that is caused from importing food from abroad. Growing your own fruit and vegetables also helps wildlife. Great questions 3LS and Dave was pleased to hear that he has inspired some of you to grow your own food at home. A huge thank you to Dave for showing us around.
During our English lessons, Gold class have been reading The Jolly Postman. Last week we wrote letters and today we walked our letters to post them at the post box. We can't wait for our families to receive them. Great work Gold class!📮📬

Matt's 6th form PSD group spent a great morning at Coventry Foodbank delivering 98kg of food and personal care items to the main office following our charity appeal. All items will be distributed across the 15 Coventry Foodbank sites over the coming weeks.
3S completed their learning in My community, My World about Coventry and the city's industrial links. The group travelled by train from Tile Hill Station to Birmingham International, where they then caught the Air-Rail link to Birmingham Airport. The students were very excited to be travelling on the train and watched as the countryside flashed past them. They waited to catch the mono-rail to the airport and enjoyed looking at the views through the windows. Everyone had a looked around the departures and arrivals area of the airport; looking at the aeroplanes through the windows and seeing all the departure and arrival boards showing the flights coming in and out of the airport. The students then walked to a viewing area outside the airport building to see more of the aircraft on the tarmac. They saw some planes landing and taking off; before returning to the school via the monorail and the train. The students were very patient on the return journey, waiting for the delayed train, sensibly and quietly. Well done 3S! Some great learning completed.
The whole school celebrated Music Day last week with a huge variety of activities throughout the whole day. The theme for the day was "Communicating through Music" so in the morning pupils explored all the instruments from the music room and then used them to communicate ideas and emotions. This involved synchronized swimming, rock guitar and singing. In the afternoon the whole school was treated to a performance from the choir, singing some of their favourite songs from this year's repertoire. To finish the day, "The Sherbourne Fields Generosity Band" played their first gig to a packed hall. They performed 3 self-penned numbers with a huge encore to finish. What a day!
Last week for the whole school music day, 4K made the most of our resident rock musician Chris' skills to teach us about the electric guitar. We learnt about the history of the instrument then all had a go playing quietly and then loudly with distortion!
White Class enjoyed their Open Theatre Company session on Friday. The children were fully immersed in a sensory barber shop experience. The children had lots of fun either role playing the barber or customer!
