WE’RE BACK ON THE ROAD — AND WHAT A WEEK!

After two weeks off, Urban Goodies is back, with over 150 people receiving our food bags this week alone.

The break was challenging financially, but we used the time positively; planning, applying for new funding and looking at how we can make Urban Goodies even stronger.

We’re a small, grassroots organisation run entirely by volunteers, without the level of funding and resources available to some other food hubs across Coventry. Yet week after week, our volunteers continue to make a real difference.

We’re feeling incredibly positive about the future and we currently have a few spaces available for new members too, so please get in touch if you’d like to join us.

And if you’re a funder or business looking to support a grassroots organisation making a direct impact in Coventry, we’d love to hear from you.

WE’RE BACK — AND WE’RE MOVING FORWARD!

It feels fantastic to say that Urban Goodies is back on the road and ready for our next chapter.

It’s been an incredibly challenging period. We’ve faced major disruption and significant financial losses, but through it all, we kept going.

A huge thank you to everyone who reached out, offered support, shared advice, made introductions or simply checked in on us. It genuinely meant more than you know.

There is some rebuilding to do, but we’re moving forward with renewed energy, optimism and ambition.

This is becoming one of the hardest situations we’ve faced as a small CIC.

After the accident, we genuinely believed insurance would do what insurance is supposed to do; help us get back on the road.

Instead, we’ve spent days making calls, sending emails, reporting to the police, speaking with DPD and even knocking on strangers doors trying to find CCTV ourselves.

And after all of that, we’re still without our vehicle. We’re still paying for it. And we still don’t know when this will end.

Every day we’re off the road means people we wanted to help are being let down. That hurts far more than the damaged vehicle.

We’re a tiny Community Interest Company. We don’t have endless money, spare vehicles or a team of people to fight insurance battles. We’re just trying to keep Urban Goodies going and continue helping our community.

Right now, we wish we could tell you when we’ll be back. The sad truth is, we simply don’t know.

The past seven days have been incredibly difficult for Urban Goodies CIC.

Our vehicle situation has significantly disrupted our charitable work and our ability to support people experiencing poverty.

After paying our vehicle provider more than £23,700 since 2024 and accommodating several vehicle changes made to suit them, we have been left with a vehicle in poor condition.

We are also disputing a possible charge connected to an accident that was caused to us by a DPD driver.

We have raised a formal complaint with our vehicle provider and hope they will listen, understand the personal impact this is having and resolve matters urgently and fairly.

Sadly, there will be no food parcel deliveries this Wednesday

It looks like we may be off the road for some time while the insurance companies assess liability following the incident. We don’t have another vehicle we can use, so right now our hands are completely tied.

We honestly don’t know what to do with ourselves. Knowing there are people waiting for their food parcels and that we can’t get out there to them is breaking our hearts. This is so much more than just driving around delivering parcels to us it’s what we love doing and it means everything to us.

We just feel completely lost at the moment and wish there was something we could do.

If anyone is able to help or support us in any way, or even just share this post, it would mean more to us than you know.

We’re so sorry to everyone who relies on us. We just hope with all our hearts that we can find a way to get back on the road soon.

We are so sorry…

Sadly, there will be no food parcel deliveries this Monday 31st August as we’re still off the road.

We’re absolutely gutted and honestly don’t know what to do with ourselves.

Mondays are all about getting out there, seeing everyone and delivering our parcels.

We just hope we can get back on the road very soon. We miss you all already.

A little update from us…

Sadly, we’re off the road for the moment after a van opened its door into our car while we were driving along the road.

We’re absolutely gutted; not just about the car, but especially about the food parcels we won’t be able to get out while we’re off the road. We know how much they mean to the people who rely on them, and that’s the hardest part for us.

We’re hoping this is only a temporary setback and that we’ll be back on the road and delivering again very soon.

Thank you, as always, for all your support, patience and kindness. It really does mean the world to us.
