Pick one and defend your answer properly 😅
Books or films?
Chocolate spread or jam?
Summer holidays or Christmas?
Cats or dogs?
The rule is simple: no “because I just do.”
Children have to explain why they think that, give examples and argue their case properly. It sounds silly, but it builds confidence, communication skills and critical thinking really naturally 🤍

The tutors who fit Thrive best are usually the ones who enjoy building relationships with students just as much as teaching the subject itself.
A lot of children come into tutoring carrying frustration, low confidence or the feeling that they’re “behind”. Having a tutor who can slow things down, explain things calmly and help learning feel manageable again makes a huge difference.
That’s the environment we try to create across all our sessions, whether we’re supporting primary learners or GCSE students.
We’re currently looking for qualified teachers and experienced tutors to join the Thrive team.

Messages like this mean a lot to us 🤍
Every child learns differently, and we know how important it is for families to find support that feels right for their child, especially when confidence has taken a knock.
Over time, we’ve worked with children who needed learning explained differently, more patiently or in a way that better suited how they process information.
Seeing that confidence grow and hearing parents say their child now enjoys sessions is always the best part of the job.
We’re now booking tutoring sessions for September across primary support, GCSE English and GCSE Science, both face-to-face across Coventry & Warwickshire and online.
If you’d like to chat about support for the new school year, feel free to message us.

Children remember the tutors who helped them feel capable again. 🥹
Over time, we’ve worked with children who went from dreading homework to feeling more confident walking into the classroom.
The difference comes from having the space to slow down, ask questions properly and learn without the pressure of keeping up with everyone else around them.
That approach matters to us at Thrive Tutoring, which is why we’re looking for tutors who care about building confidence alongside academic progress.
We want tutors who can adapt to the child in front of them, explain things in different ways and create sessions that feel supportive and encouraging.
We’re currently growing our team across primary and GCSE support and would love to hear from qualified teachers or experienced tutors who share that approach to learning.

If your child is in Year 1, chances are you’ve already heard a lot about alien words 👽
These nonsense words are used in the phonics screening check to see whether children can apply their phonics knowledge to words they haven’t seen before.
A few quick tips that can help at home:
👽 Encourage them to say each sound slowly first
👽 Look out for digraphs like sh, ch, ai and ee
👽 If they get stuck, cover part of the word and blend it bit by bit
👽 Keep it light and playful... confidence makes a huge difference!
And remember, it isn’t all about perfect pronunciation. It’s showing they can decode unfamiliar words using their phonics skills.
