Work has been very busy lately, causing its own different levels of pressure and stress compared to where it’s been lately. Long hours combined with a lot of focus and concentration as well as being in demand from lots of areas in the business has caused energy levels to drop dramatically over the last few days. Combined with my sons birthday and the pressures and worries that it brings, it’s been a tougher than usual week.

How we handle these times are different for each and every one of us. Just because one person handles it in a certain way doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll work for you. Each and every one of us has our own way to get through what we consider to be tough (and what’s tough for me may be easy for someone else - it’s our own world and we determine our own levels).

Personally, I use running to help me through my more difficult moments but this week I’ve not run at all and has hurt.

The consequence of this is that I’m really looking forward to next Tuesday to see some of the team and just have a de-stress, talk about nothing in particular and relax a little.

It might not work as well for you but if you fancy it, pop along and take it easy with us.

Take care, look after yourself and those around you.

Yep, Sunday evening has come back around very quickly this week. Which means a nice simple update to say that our Tuesday night meet up isn’t too far away.

Hopefully the weather this week will be much better than last week’s wind and rain! Let me tell you - that was not fun!

Usual start time of 6.15pm for a 6.20pm start and we’ll meet at the main car park (by the barriers for a little trundle round again.

Hope to see you there…

Merry Christmas everyone!

13/12/2022

We’ll be taking a little break over the Christmas period so there will be no official run this evening and we’ll start back up again on Tuesday 10th January.

Keep safe over the next few weeks, look after your loved ones and importantly, make time for yourself too - it’s doesn’t have to be all tinsel and parties…

I’d also like to wish everyone that has supported the group a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy New Year.

See you soon!

We’re back on again tonight at the usual time of 6.15pm for a 6.20pm start. We’ll be meeting at the barriers of the main car park until further notice (when it’s nice and warm and sunny basically! 😎).

See you later alligators!

28/11/2022

Due to the World Cup fixture between England and Wales at 7pm Tuesday evening, we’ll be meeting at 6pm and looking to get away quickly.

We’ll also be meeting by the main barriers just inside the main park entrance - not at the Visitors centre. It’s a safer place to meet over the Winter period, the lighting is much, much better.

Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Cheers

It's been a little while since my last post but with the dark nights closing in, I thought I'd drop a little reminder that we're still out there if you need us. It can be for any reason - you may fancy a chat with some random people that you may or may not meet up with again, you may want some people to run with in the evening as you just don't fancy going out on your own, you may want to go for a run in the cold and dark and hope that it rains, just for a giggle (probably just me then...). It really doesn't matter your reason, we're here if you'd like to join us.

We run in the areas that are lit around the Memorial Park, we stay in groups and make sure no-one is left to run on their own. We do a very gentle three miles and the emphasis is on a comfortable pace so that we can chew the fat and catch up.

It's free and there's no commitment to turn up every week. Just pop along when you can make it. We meet at 6.15pm and start at 6.20pm promptly, normally finishing after about thirty-five minutes (remember, we take it easy!).

Hope you're all keeping well, take care everyone...

Daveathon - 60km at 60 for HOPE Coventry - JustGiving 05/11/2022

At the moment, one of our wonderful members is running 30k as park of trying to complete 60k for his 60th birthday.

I had the pleasure of a quick chat with him at 10k and he was looking strong and more than up for the challenge of completing his Daveathon!

Dave’s raising money for HOPE Coventry, a charity that Dave helps out with. If you’d like to sponsor him then the link is below.

All our Run Talk Run family are proud of him, well done Dave!!

Lots to talk about today!

With 10th October being World Mental Health Day, what better way to compliment a wonderful day than to come and join an amazingly supportive group of people and not only get some mental health support, but also enjoy some gentle physical exercise in some lovely open space, free of traffic and full of fresh Autumn air.

Whilst you may not feel that you need the support, by having a conversation with someone, you may just help them by just putting an extra little smile on their face for a couple of minutes. It may be the difference between a good day and a bad day for them, and you may be that reason. Even if you can't make it, feel free to pass this is on to anyone you know so they know support is out there if they need it.

The benefits of exercise on mental health are widely reported and we try to take it as easy as we can - not only with the run, but with the conversation as well. If you're just starting out and fancy the challenge of trying to run 5k, then we'll be here to support you. We'll guide you through it and you'll never be left alone, we always ensure safety for all our runners is at the forefront of what we do - especially as the darker nights approach us. With the light almost gone, we're starting fifteen minutes earlier from now on and we'll be exploring a new route around the park to ensure we stay on the lit paths. It'll be a bit of fun trying to find a new route around the park, with everyone encouraged to contribute.

We run together, we talk together, we listen together - it's about trying to build a community of supportive people that look after and support each other. We're building it, bit by bit...

Take care everyone, we hope to see you join us one day.

The summer sunshine looks like it's disappearing, but we're still here. Every Tuesday night for a free 5k around our wonderful War Memorial Park. We meet up at 6.20pm and start at 6.30pm.

We run at a gentle pace, it takes about 35 minutes. If you want to go a little quicker then it's fine, we just ask that when you get a little bit far away from the group then you run back to the back of the group, have a chat and then carry on - you'll probably do a smidgen more than 5k, but who's counting when you're chatting?

We have a great group of wonderfully supportive people - from marathon runners to some that have completed over 500 events at Parkrun and we still have new members coming along.

If you fancy it, just pop along and join us. You might just find that little bit of sunshine on an otherwise rainy day.

Take care everyone.

Hello people of Coventry... It's nearly Tuesday so that means it's me again! Yay!

Feel free to come along to a FREE 5k run around our wonderful War Memorial Park. We encourage all abilities to come along and the focus is on having a natter and supporting each other in whatever way we can.

If you've made a particularly amazing cake and want to share it the story with us, then come along (feel free to bring the cake if you need to!).

If work is just too much, come along and tell someone. The are no judges, there are no instant results, we just let you talk, run a bit and then talk some more.

I can't promise Tom Grennan or Fabio and Grooverider or any of the amazing local acts that were at the same spot this weekend, but I can promise that we'll give you a reason to smile at some point during the evening. Maybe that's just what you'll need.

We also have a Walk Talk Walk over at the University of Warwick for those that would prefer a walk instead of a run.

You can sign up via https://www.heylo.co/, download the Heylo app and register or just turn up and run with us.

I hope you're able to make it, numbers are increasing each week - let's keep the positivity going...
