MONDAY MOTIVATION - Canicross season is right around the corner. May have got a little too excited today 🤣🤣 3 Big Bear Events 6 hour events entered plus the whole series of Canicross Midlands for me and the boys.

As well as Cani-Trail UK 50 miler and the Coventry Way

🐕🏃‍♀️ 22/08/26 – Woodland Run + Breakfast! 🏃‍♂️🐾

Run first… breakfast afterwards! 👀☕🍳

This morning’s Carnie Runs Social took us into the woods for a 4.8-mile twisty, windy and seriously fun adventure! 🌳🐕💨

Eight teams headed out together and the dogs were VERY keen to get going! The weather and temperatures were perfect, so we made the most of it.

The first couple of miles were quick, technical, twisty and full of fun — exactly the kind of trails the dogs love! 🐾💨

Despite a bit of rain recently, everything is still ridiculously dry and the streams are STILL empty! 💦🙈

So, naturally, we had a couple of water stops… using the water and bowls we'd all brought with us.

Although apparently one water bowl is never enough! 🤣

The dogs took turns drinking from pretty much EVERYONE’S water, as if they’d collectively decided:

"Hmm… yours probably tastes better." 😂🐕

Clearly some households have premium water and we need to know their secret! 🤣

And then came the best part…

☕🍳 BREAKFAST! 🍳☕

Six of us stayed behind for breakfast at a super dog-friendly pub, complete with a doggy menu AND free treats at the bar! 🐕❤️

The food was absolutely delicious and VERY filling, and it was lovely to sit down, have a proper catch-up and watch the dogs settle after their run. They were absolute stars, settling brilliantly while we ate and chatted. 🥰🐾

Honestly, canicross + good trails + great company + breakfast = pretty much the perfect Saturday morning! ❤️

🐕🏃‍♀️ 15/08/26 – NEW ROUTE! 🏃‍♂️🐾

Another week, another NEW ROUTE! 🙌🌳

Katy, Neil & I originally recce’d this one back in March, but it was a little too overgrown then. We waited a few months and it was definitely worth it!

A brilliant mix of farmland, woodland & countryside paths, with the route being on-lead only — making it perfect for canicross! 🐕💨 And the bonus? We didn’t see a single dog walker! 😅

The dogs absolutely loved it, especially the section near the pheasant farm and through the field of HARES! 🐇🤣

We did wonder if we might lose Sharron at this point when Rusty suddenly decided it was time to go hunting! 😂💨 Considering it was the first time in a while she’d run both dogs together, she handled it brilliantly!

If there had been a Strava segment through that field, I reckon we’d have all been fighting for the top spots! 🏆😂

It was also great to have Cody & Kest back after a few weeks away. Cody was clearly keen to make up for lost time and spent the run leading the way — unfortunately, they were moving so fast I kept missing them in every photo! 🤦‍♀️😂

💦 No natural water on this route, so everyone brought their own and we stopped for a couple of water breaks.

The Labs were also flying today, even having a little race through the freshly cut hay fields! 🐕💨🐕💨

And Chloe came along for a lovely steady trot ❤️ Buddy did brilliantly keeping a slower pace so she could run comfortably behind without being pulled along. She had to stay on lead for most of the route, but that didn’t stop her having a brilliant time bouncing around saying hello to all her pals! 🥰🐾

Another new route successfully tested and approved! 🙌

🐕🏃‍♀️ 08/08/26 – NEW 10KM ROUTE! 🏃‍♂️🐾
New route + 6 teams + plenty of water = one VERY happy group of dogs! 💦🐕

Nicola and I recce’d most of this route last week with Buddy & Rip and knew we’d found a good one… but today was the real test! 👀

We found a safe parking spot which turned our original 4-mile loop into a 6-mile adventure — 1 mile out, a 4-mile loop, then 1 mile back.

And the best bit for this time of year? 💦 WATER. LOTS OF IT. We found 5 different sections with plenty of flowing water, giving the dogs plenty of opportunities for drinks, paddles and cooling off along the way.

There were a few stiles to negotiate too, but the dogs smashed them! 🐕💪 Most could simply duck underneath, with only ONE requiring a little helping hand over.

But the real highlight came at the end… 👀

🌊🐕 THE RIVER! 🐕🌊 We let the dogs off for a splash, a paddle and a good play together — and they absolutely LOVED it! 💦🤣 Watching them all charging around, playing and enjoying the water together made all the route-reccing worth it. ❤️

Six teams headed out on a completely new route today and I think we can safely say…

THIS ONE IS A KEEPER! 🙌

Definitely getting added to the Carnie Runs Social route list! 🐾

🐕🏃‍♀️ 02/08/26 – A 10K RUNNING SAFARI! 🦌🐄🦙

One of our favourite 10km routes… but this one comes with a whole lot of wildlife! 👀🐾

This route is basically a running safari — cows, alpacas, sheep, goats and, if we’re lucky, deer! 🐄🦙🐑🐐🦌

The dogs LOVE seeing all the animals along the way and today did not disappoint…

Although the weather had other plans! 🥵💦It was way more humid than we'd anticipated, so this was definitely a steady 10km, with some walking, plenty of water and a nice cooling stop in the stream around 2 miles in.

We had another water stop around 4 miles, using the water we'd carried with us, and thankfully all the dogs coped really well with the humidity. 🐕💪

Then came the wildlife highlight…
🦌 THREE ROE DEER! 🦌
The dogs suddenly perked up as three deer came running through the field ahead of us. They all stood watching, interested but surprisingly calm.

Well… all except Yara. 😂
She had absolutely no idea what was going on because the hedge and long grass were too tall for her to see over!
Meanwhile, Cleo had gone full meerkat mode 🐕🤣, standing as tall as possible to get a better view of the action.

And then, after making our way past the castle, there was only one thing left to do…

💦 RIVER TIME! 💦
Every dog got to have a paddle and splash before we headed home — the perfect end to a warm and very eventful 10km! ❤️

🐕🏃‍♀️ 25/07/26 – Carnie Runs Woodland Saturday Social 🏃‍♂️🐕

Cooler temperatures + manageable humidity = GROUP RUN! 🙌 It was brilliant to finally get everyone out for a social run!

It was also cool enough for Chloe to join us 🥰 Now she finds heat and humidity harder, but give her cooler temperatures and a stop/start social run and she’s more than happy to join in!

Neil ran Chloe with Lilly, I ran Buddy, Nic with Benji, Sharron with Rusty, Lucy with Percy, Jo with Rupert and Katy with Django. It was also lovely to have Rhiannon & Winnie back! 🐾❤️

And then there was Sasha… 🤣 She was absolutely BUZZING to see everyone, doing ridiculous zoomies on the lead 😂💨 and winding up her new pal Rupert!

Meanwhile, Winnie had one mission… Find. The. BIGGEST. STICK. 🌳😂 She carried it around the final part of the route and even negotiated the kissing gate without losing it! 😂👏

🌳 THE WOODLAND LOOP 🌳

This route is narrow and technical, so watch your footing, especially now everything is SUPER dry. There are also lots of fallen trees and logs put down to block motocross bikes — although the bikes seem to have turned them into jumps instead! 😂 For us, they made fun obstacles!

The streams were dried up and the ponds didn’t look safe, so everyone brought water and we stopped for drinks 💦

🐕🔄 DOG SWAPPING!

Neil wanted to try a stronger, faster-pulling dog, so we had a little musical chairs! He ran Rusty, Sharron ran Chloe & Lilly, then Neil tried Lilly & Rusty before Rusty went back to Sharron and Chloe joined Nic & Benji.

It’s great when the dogs all get along so well that we can safely swap around! 🥰🐾

Another brilliant Carnie Runs social full of trails, zoomies, sticks, dog swapping and laughs! ❤️

🐕-🏃‍♀️19/07/26 - Cani hike adventure 🐕-🏃

As the temperatures were warmer today than yesterday, we headed out for a hike rather than a run, which also meant because of the slower pace that Chloe could join in and see some of her pals and I could also bring Elvis who I'm currently pet sitting with.

It was nice to have Vicki, Willow and Poppy join us as we haven't seen them for a few weeks whilst Vicki completed her 70 mile ultra... amazing achievement from her, she definitely put in the work in the past few months. It was also great to see Jonny & Ozzy as we haven't seen Jonny for ages, although we did bring Ozzy along to our hike on 5th July haha, as he and Buddy get on, so well together.

The trails were very hard and dry underfoot, it's so weird to see it all this dry, although we did still find some luscious green spots and plenty of water along route thanks to the river being very close by, although it is quite low at the moment.

Elvis greeted everyone with enthusiasm and in particular he really liked Vicki's spaniels, as well as Neil he was besotted by him and whilst we stopped for a water break, he lay down for cuddles. Buddy spent most of the walk trying to be as close as possible to his pal Ozzy as well as Elvis, whilst Chloe floated around everyone.

All the dogs enjoyed a good splash and paddle in the river at the end of the hike!

Sadly on the way home my van broke down and went into limp mode... turned out the fuel injectors had gone 😬🥴 so Euan kindly came to grab the dogs out of my van with his van whilst I sat and waited for the RAC.. who were surprisingly quick and diagnosed the issue within 2 hours of me calling.
