It’s been a wonderful summer and we’ve started a new term! For some this is a time full of firsts. For others it is a transition to a new area with new teachers. Whatever this time looks like for you we hope that we can lend some reassurance 💫

We are closed today for our annual staff training day. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for the start of our new term!

Last week our preschool and sunshine group made the most of the warm weather and held their very own sports day!

The children took part in games such as a three legged race, sack races, tug of war and an egg and spoon race. The children were encouraged to take turns and cheer friends on, building on their team work, sense of self and kindness towards others. The children had medals to take away with them too! 🥇

The children also had the chance to visit the ABC spa! We added fresh lime and lemon slices to cool water for the children to rest their feet in. We spoke about how rest is good for our bodies and that looking after our bodies through rest and relaxation is important ✨

This week we have had some very keen gardeners help refresh our planting areas! 🌱

The children have worked together and used lots of different skills to plant tomatoes, peppers, raspberries, lavender and wildflowers ✨

Our Raindrops children have been using their problem solving skills to fit jigsaw pieces into inset boards. The children were also encouraged to take turns and use their knowledge of animals to make the animals sound 🐊 🦁 🐘

Inset board jigsaws are a fantastic way to support a child’s development through play. They help build fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities and concentration. Children achieve a wonderful sense of achievement as they complete each piece 💫

Dough disco 🕺
This week some of our sunshine children took part in a dough disco! This is a creative way to enhance children’s hand strength and skills for writing and fine motor tasks.

As children squeeze, pinch, roll, stretch and mould the dough, they strengthen the small muscles in their hands and fingers. These movements improve hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity and control, all of which are essential for early writing, cutting with scissors and self-care skills such as doing up zips and buttons.

Why not have a try at home? Get out the play dough, turn on the music and call out different ways to manipulate the dough!

Happy Father’s Day ✨

This week we invited dads and grandads to come in and spend time with their little ones whilst taking part in some exciting activities!
It was a great success all round and we loved sharing this special time with you all 💫
