🌱Accompaniment Visit 🌱
On Tuesday 9 June, Romero MAC warmly welcomed the Diocese for an Accompaniment Visit focused on Catholic Life and Mission ✝️—the first of six pillars within our Strong and Flourishing Framework.
We were delighted to host four Diocesan officers: Eric Kirwan (Chief Operating Officer), Mark O’Connell (BDES Academy Lead), Steve Bell (Director of Education), and Ben McArdle (Senior Adviser for CSI Inspections).
📍 Saint Gregory’s hosted the visit, beginning with a tour led by Head Boy and Girl, Harry and Olivia Baker 👏.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Scullion, staff, and pupils for their warm welcome and excellent organisation.
The purpose of the visit was to review our evaluation of Pillar 1: Catholic Life and Mission.
🙏 We are grateful for this opportunity to reflect, celebrate, and continue strengthening our shared mission a”to form Christ-centred pilgrims of hope, with kind hearts ♥️, questioning minds ❓, a hunger for knowledge 📚 and thirst for justice ⚖️ .

🎒 Bags of Hope – Kind Heart, Hunger for Justice ❤️
As part of our shared mission to live out Catholic Social Teaching and serve those most in need, we are inviting all Romero schools to take part in our Bags of Hope initiative.
We encourage each school community—staff, pupils and families who are in a position to donate- to come together to fill a bag with essential items that could support a person for a week. The donations should be unused. This is a simple yet powerful way to show compassion, dignity and solidarity ✨. Schools will be provided with the bags for each area.
Using the suggested shopping list (below), schools are invited to focus on a particular area of need, such as:
🏠 Homelessness
👶 Children & Families
👵 Older People
🌍 Refugees or other vulnerable groups
If you are in a position to donate supplies that we can add to each bag, your school can make a meaningful and direct impact on those facing hardship.
Please send into school any of the items from the poster below (we are supplying the bags) so we can then create 🎒 Bags of Hope 🌈 to take to our Conference on June 26th.
🎁 What to do next:
Principals will bring completed Bag of Hopes to the Leadership Conference on Friday 26 June 2026.
🙏 On the day, the bags will be blessed by His Grace and then distributed across the diocese as a tangible sign of hope, care and love.
Together, as a Romero family, we can make a real difference—ensuring that those most in need are reminded that they are not forgotten 💙.

🌊 Heat Wave Water Safety for Teens and Children
Stay Cool. Stay Safe. Stay Alive.
☀️ Heat waves increase drowning risk — even for strong swimmers.
🧊 Enter the water slowly
Cold water shock can hit in seconds, even when the air is boiling hot.
🏊♂️ Swim in supervised places
Choose lifeguarded beaches, lakes, or pools. Avoid rivers, quarries, and reservoirs.
🧑🤝🧑 Never swim alone
Stay with friends and keep eyes on each other.
🚫 No risky jumps
Bridges, rocks, and ledges hide dangers below the surface.
❌ No alcohol or dares
Heat + water + alcohol = a deadly combination.
💧 Stay hydrated
Dehydration affects judgment and swimming ability.
🆘 If you get into trouble: Float to Live
• Lean back
• Ears in the water
• Relax and breathe
• Use hands to stay afloat
📞 If someone else is struggling
• Call 999
• Tell them to float
• Throw something that floats
• Don’t jump in
You’re not invincible. Water doesn’t care how strong you are.
