It was great to get this feedback from the parent of a GCSE student recently - lots of hard work and some help with exam techniques really paid off!

Boris Johnson: PM seeks to move on with focus on tax cutting after bruising confidence vote 07/06/2022

Lots of up to date examples in the news at the moment for those of you studying Government and Politics!

Boris Johnson: PM seeks to move on with focus on tax cutting after bruising confidence vote The prime minister tried to rally Cabinet colleagues after 148 Tory MPs voted against him - saying that it was "now time to draw a line under the issues that our opponents want to talk about".

Tutoring can support your child to improve their confidence and achievement by providing:

⏰ TIME - extra time to learn with individual support which can’t be provided in a classroom setting.
📝 TOPIC - the chance to focus on topics which your child finds challenging.
✍️ TECHNIQUE - practice of techniques to support with writing and responding to questions.

I now have availability for students in KS2-KS5 looking for support with English, History and Government and Politics.

If you would like support for your child, send me a message or email me at [email protected]

My name is Chloe and I have 16 years' experience as a teacher and examiner, teaching a wide range of ages and abilities.

I believe that one of the most important aspects of teaching is building confidence in my students. Tutoring allows me to provide the individual attention that lets them thrive.

As a tutor I currently teach a range of children:
- Home educated students for whom I design bespoke lessons and courses.
- KS2 students, providing extra support with English and Maths.
- GCSE students, building confidence with content and exam practice.
- A Level History and Government and Politics students, building essay-writing and analysis skills.

If you would like further information or to arrange tutoring, please drop me a facebook message or email me at [email protected].

Or visit my website at to find out more.

As we approach exams, I have a couple of afternoon/evening sessions left on Mondays for those who want some extra support with content revision or exam practice.

Please send me a message or email me at [email protected] to find out more.

Some lovely feedback from a student ☺️

A lovely review ☺️

Trying to learn a lot of new information in time for assessments or mocks can be difficult. Here are some strategies which might help:

⌚️ Spaced learning. You should look over a topic the day after learning it, then a week later, then a month later. This helps the information to enter your long term memory.

🎨 Using symbols/pictures alongside text to help you visualise the information (this works particularly well for me).

📝 Changing the information into another form such as a flow diagram, table or mind map. This not only helps ensure you have read through and understood your notes, the process of creating the diagram helps you to learn it.

If you think you child would benefit from support with their learning in English or History, send me a message or contact me at [email protected] to find out more about tutoring.

Do you have mocks or assessments coming up? Make sure you are fully prepared:

📓Make sure you know what topics or questions will be focused on - don't waste time revising the wrong topics.

📝 Use different revision techniques to help you remember the facts you need - mnemonics, pictures, spider diagrams, quizzes - even putting key facts on post it notes on your wall!

📅 Create a timetable to make sure you cover all the topics - don't just focus on the ones you enjoy or already know.

🖋 Practice questions as often as you can - even writing a plan will help you if you haven't got time to write the whole answer.

👩‍🦰 Get friends or family to test you on the key facts - if you know someone sitting the same exam, this will help both of you.

If you want some extra support to prepare for assessments or mocks, tuition can help. Message me or email [email protected] to find out more.

This afternoon we started revising The American Dream: Reality and Illusion and did a bit of source skills practice too. Analysing sources is one of the more challenging history skills.

Remember to consider:

- Content - what does the source say?
- Context - what do you know about the time period/event?
- Provenance - who produced the source and why?
- Language and Tone

Send me a message or email me at [email protected] if you would like to organise tutoring for your child.

We have been doing more Cold War learning this evening - this time an introductory lesson going over the Big Three and the conferences.

The Cold War can be a challenging topic which benefits from consolidating some of the key concepts such as:
- capitalism
- communism
- democracy
- diplomacy

If you think your child could benefit from tuition, message me or email [email protected] to find out more.
