Covid: Home-education numbers rise by 75% 16/04/2024

Hello, I hope you’re well. I wondered if it might be possible to share the below in the group?

Hello, I’m a former primary school teacher, currently working as a journalist for BBC. In 2021, I worked on a piece about the rise in home education: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-57255380 and I’m now working on a follow-up. I would be keen to speak to families who decided to home educate during the pandemic and are still home educating now. This would be for any combination of online/radio/TV. I appreciate this can be a sensitive topic and any conversations would be handled as such. In terms of the angle of this piece, I am wanting to look at the range of reasons why people home educate and their experiences. If you are interested in having a call about this, please email me on [email protected] – many thanks.

Covid: Home-education numbers rise by 75% "Covid anxiety" is among the explanations for the increasing popularity of out-of-school teaching.

I'm a third-year Trainee Educational and Child Psychologist, currently on placement with Coventry Educational Psychology service. I am in the process of trying to locate potential participants for research that I intend to begin eminently. My area of interest is online learning for children and young people who are home-educated. I'm also passionate about children/young persons' voices being sought and hearing from the marginalised or under-represented.

With this in mind, I contacted you to explore whether you or your organisation are aware of any students/pupils within the area of elective home education who access online learning exclusively, predominately or on a part-time basis as part of their education at home. If yes, I would really appreciate you meditating or setting up contact with those students/pupils (and their parents) who might be interested in taking part in my research. The age range that I would like to work with is ages 7-18 years old.

Is the Draft EHE Guidance Fit for Purpose? 15/01/2024

This consultation is badly written, confusing and inaccessible to its primary stakeholders - children!

Is the Draft EHE Guidance Fit for Purpose? Recent years have seen plenty of consultations, but this is perhaps one of the most difficult ones HE families have had to engage with. Only a few days left to respond now, before the deadline of 1…

HIGH PRIORITY! Elective Home Education Guidance Review

Please be aware that the government have launched (yet another!) consultation that relates to home education. This time they are looking to make changes to the Elective Home Education Guidance, so it is vitally important that as many home educators as possible take a look at all the documentation and complete the survey. We have until January, so do take that time to go through everything, and consider your opinions on the changes. We have to make sure our voices are heard!

Elective home education guidance review We’re seeking views on proposed changes to the non-statutory elective home education guidance for local authorities and parents.
