Our caterpillars emerged as beautiful painted Lady butterflies this week and we had a wonderful time studying them and setting them free in the garden For some mindees this was their 3rd year studying a live caterpillar lifecycle but the awe and excitement is the same every time. I am always amazed how much the children engage and learn when we do this, the vocabulary amassed is just outstanding and there are so many opportunities to practise skills such as counting, shape, colour and texture recognition, literacy comprehension, waiting patiently, turn taking, being gentle plus all the added benefits that engaging with nature brings to our hearts 💕 🦋 🐛

Lovely morning with our friends from Holly's Childminding 123

Sometimes it's tricky for little ones to focus for long periods on an activity. Other times they find their happy place and stay a while. Each child has been concentrating on their individual play now for more than 30mins. Our 36 month old is playing sink and float, transferring the same objects in and out of water, narrating as his goes. Our 27 month old has been painting all of the colours of the rainbow, again chatting and describing her colours and pictures as she goes, whilst our 23 month old travels up and down the garden over and over on various ride-on toys. So many schemas at work and different areas of learning and development going on. Such a joy to observe and support, very happy childminder 🥰

Another lovely session this morning with Inspire Childcare Play Education, Gem's Childminding and A Day of Play.

I had to tear the little Nature Makers away from this sunflower masterpiece on our big outdoor painting sheet at the end. They loved creating it with our home made dandelion paint!
