Shape matching became a fun way for the children to build early maths skills through hands-on play.

The children were encouraged to recognise, name and match different shapes, including circles, squares, triangles and rectangles. As they looked closely at each shape, they developed problem-solving skills and visual discrimination by noticing similarities and differences.

This activity also supported communication and language, as the children used shape-related vocabulary and talked about what they could see, match and identify.

Welcome to our bakers’ shop, where imagination, creativity and hands-on learning came together beautifully.

The children enjoyed pretending to make their very own cupcakes using flour, icing sugar, rocks, shape cutters, wooden spoons and a baking tray. As they explored the different textures and materials, they were encouraged to use their imagination, share ideas and take turns with their friends.

This activity also supported early maths as the children talked about the shapes and colours they could see, compared the rocks by size using words such as big, little and medium, and developed their social skills through teamwork and role play.

Counting, matching and singing made this number activity a lovely way to support early maths through play.

The toddlers practised recognising numbers 1 to 5 as they counted out the correct number of blocks and matched them to the numbered frogs. This helped strengthen their understanding of counting in sequence, number recognition and one-to-one correspondence.

To make the learning even more engaging, the children also enjoyed singing “Five Little Speckled Frogs”, using music, repetition and play to reinforce their counting skills in a fun and memorable way.

The beach became a wonderful place for imagination, conversation and sensory discovery.

The toddlers explored the sandy tuff tray using their hands and feet, noticing how the sand felt as they scooped, touched and moved it around. As they played, they were encouraged to talk about their own experiences of visiting the beach, helping them make meaningful connections between their play and the world around them.

This activity supported sensory development, communication and language skills, imaginative role play and understanding of real-life experiences in a fun, hands-on way.

This fine motor activity gave the toddlers a brilliant opportunity to explore, create and practise important early skills through hands-on play.

The children used a variety of tools, including tweezers, sponges and paint rollers, helping them develop their fine motor skills, hand strength and an appropriate grip. They enjoyed making marks in the paint using both the tools and their hands, giving them the chance to explore movement, texture and creativity in different ways.

The activity also supported colour recognition and early sorting skills, as the children matched and sorted the coloured animals into the corresponding pots. It was a lovely way to bring together fine motor development, sensory exploration, mark making, colour learning and early problem-solving.
