Baby Room update 😀
Our babies all joined in with a winter themed activity, we were exploring different sea animals, we had the play dough available so baby's could feel the texture of it and try to explore with the rolling pins and shape cutters, guiding the babies to use the rolling pins and showing them how to do this.
Well done babies for getting involved in this activity 🥰

3 plus room update 😀
Children joined in with making playdough, we showed children all the ingredients that would be needed, we then encouraged children to tell us what they could see and the process of what we needed to do. We had little helpers with mixing and pouring the ingredients into the bowl. Children then used their own imagination to create something wonderful using rolling pins and shape printers.
Well done 3 plus for getting involved 😀

The 2+ children were exploring with the sensory things and bricks, we looked at different patterns that we could print into our play dough and gloop play. We felt different textures like soft and runny. The children used there imagination skills to create something lovely using their artistic minds. We looked at how we could connect the bricks to create a house or a fire station. Well done 2+ children for getting fully involved in the activities 😀

This week at George Eliot we have been exploring a range of fun Autumn activities with all children across the nursery. We have been learning all about the leaves changing colour and the change in weather and season alongside festivities. The children have been really enthusiastic and engaged in our seasonal activities . To celebrate Halloween this week we have also planned various activities and have engaged children in conversations about the festival and children were thrilled and engrossed throughout .
The children have expressed a lot of interest and excitement, we have started to create some spooky crafts including potion making and ghostly spider prints and many more to come in the following week.

We had some lovely outdoor learning through play this week. These activities were child led . We incorporated resources to support this and allowed children to be creative . The children explored and investigated different types of textures with wonder and curiosity. This learning approach provided children to contribute to their academic development. It helped the children to be imaginative , use their cognitive skills and use their schemas to explore new ideas of play whilst working on their team building skills . They used their sustained shared thinking skills and language to collaborate ideas.
The children had an amazing learning experience and gained further knowledge about the world around them.

The children love watering our plants in the garden. They display wonder and curiosity looking and observing the way plants are growing in different sizes. They used their senses to explore the plants e.g. feel, touch, taste, smell etc. Today we took an opportunity to give the children a chance to use our homegrown fresh herbs to be creative with as we initiated an open ended play dough activity according to their interests. The children were introduced to different herbs and we discussed different smell and textures. The children were engaged and were discovering which enhanced and stimulated their senses. They had fun expressing their thoughts and ideas with their friends, had their own discussions between them. We encouraged their vocabulary by using adjectives and descriptive words and open ended questions. The learning outcome from this activity was successful as the children took initiative and they represented play items symbolically, used imagination to act out various scenarios.

We had lots of fun in the bumblebee room, I set up a activity for children to explore different animals, I encouraged children to use their knowledge of animals to group them together into the correct animal groups, this was a success. Children used their good hand to eye coordination by filling and emptying using the small scoopers to place the soil in the barrel, we incorporated maths into this activity by using language like full, half full, We also explored pre positioning language, so reaching under to collect some soil or placing the animal in the square. This activity promoted good fine motor skills, encouraged language. Children were engaged and had fun. 😀

At George Eliot kindergarten all the rooms had the pleasure of celebrating the England team going to the final. To begin with we discussed the football game. The children came to the nursery this morning discussed and shared how they watched the game together with their families and loved ones.
Outdoor the children were given the opportunities to be creative with the ideas they shared with us. They were thrilled to play football together . They also had a penalty shootout where they shouted "score!" Later on , the children were delighted to create their own styles of England flag as we had a further discussion about our country. The children took turns when playing , displayed a lot of enthusiasm , were active and displayed social skills. We are proud for our team ! Common England , It's coming home!😁⚽️
