Congratulations to Jane Flanagan, Faculty Head of Art and Technology at Blue Coat CofE School, for being highly commended in the first Presidents Award by NSEAD. This accolade honors her exceptional dedication to art teaching and her impactful contributions to students, colleagues, and the wider community.
Our very own Gemma Hathaway from Blue Coat CofE School and Madaleine Morgan from Clifford Bridge Academy are at the ASCL Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Conference in Birmingham today! They are excited to connect with other educators and leaders, sharing insights and strategies to foster more inclusive and equitable environments in our schools. Let's support them as they bring back valuable knowledge and inspiration to our schools!
This week, Year 9 students from Blue Coat CofE School visited St. Mark's for a special service. They explored the historic building, participated in sung worship, listened to testimony by youth ministry leader Ros, and learned about the significance of communion. Students also had the opportunity to receive communion or prayer. Thank you, St Marks Coventry
🎉 Pupils from Blue Coat School in Coventry have won this year's Gallery of Living History Schools Competition!
Their incredible soundscape honouring electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire will be installed in the Tree of Hands statue in Starley Gardens, near Coventry University's new Delia Derbyshire building. Supported by Andy Serkis and Coventry University, this contest celebrates community heroes.
We're so proud of our Blue Coat students for their creative tribute! 👏
We are thrilled to share that Gemma Hathaway, Assistant Headteacher at Blue Coat CofE School, has been appointed as the RE facilitator for Coventry and Warwickshire.
Starting in September, Gemma will be dedicated one day a week to work throughout the region, focusing on the implementation of the new Locally Agreed RE syllabus and supporting schools in their RE provision and broader personal development curriculum.
Additionally, Gemma is an accredited inspector for SIAMS Church school inspections conducted nationwide. Congratulations to Gemma on this significant achievement.

It's mental health awareness week, so as part of that we are sharing some key helplines. For some more info on helplines read the below and head to our bio for more mental health awareness links 🔗
When grappling with mental health challenges like trauma or depression, feelings of hopelessness and isolation can be overwhelming. These emotions, often accompanied by shame or guilt, may lead to thoughts of self-harm or su***de. However, it's crucial to recognise that help is available and these feelings are temporary. Seeking support through helplines provides an opportunity to connect with empathetic listeners who can offer guidance and comfort while maintaining anonymity, helping to alleviate the sense of loneliness.
Helplines offer a lifeline for those in distress, providing a nonjudgmental space to talk through difficulties and access resources. Whether struggling with addiction, mental illness, or concerns about a loved one, helplines like these handle millions of calls annually, demonstrating the widespread utilisation and effectiveness of these vital services in providing assistance and fostering emotional well-being.
